No from Pens Lazar isn't really a improvement from Lafferty.

Philly would be very interested in Ristolainen or maybe Miller as a cheaper option, but not Montour.

Good, I’d rather keep Lazar.

As an islander fan I might do that this years draft is a crapshoot anyway we dump a bad contract bellows can’t crack the lineup and we have hall at a reasonable price and he can help us once he has competent coaching.

The Islanders have no interest in Taylor Hall; doesn't fit the system.

And lose Risto in the expansion draft? It doesnt make sense for them to go after someone who isnt a UFA after this season.

Thats fair. They could probably get a bit more. I dont see Buffalo getting as much value as New Jersey did last year.

As a fellow Islander fan I think youre wrong here. 2021 1st doesnt have that much of a value as the ordinary 1st round picks. Bellows is struggling in our system and Trotz dont trust him. Komarov is someone we would love to get rid off. Hall for 4 million for a playoff run? Thats no gamble at all and Hall could be a fantastic player in our system. Why dont you think so? Im just curious.

That post didn't seem to be about what NYI is giving up, but rather the idea of bringing Hall. I think Trotz would hate him. He's really just not that good.

I disagree. He’s not the player he was when he won that Hart award for sure, but I don’t see it like Trotz would hate him, why? I actually think he’s pretty responsible in his own end and don’t tend to make stupid individuals plays. I actually think Trotz would love a player like him on the roster.

Lee - Barzal - Wahlstrom
Hall - Nelson - Eberle
Beauvillier - Pageau - Bailey
Martin - Cizikas - Clutterbuck

I would absolutely love that.

The isles still have one of the worst prospect pools in the league and need to keep their high picks this year unless they’re getting a young top 6 forward with term.

Hall didn’t have much of an impact in Arizona (who play a similar style to the isles). He also struggles to finish and is more of a playmaker.

We are a contender for the first time in years, I think we should go for it while the window is open, and I don’t think that our prospect pool is thad bad actually. - and there is not many spots open as for now in our team anyways. A 3rd line forward and probably a replacement for Greene, maybe Leddy next year. Do you really need a stacked prospect pool then? Sure we have to plan for the future too, but we have a young core behind Lee, Nelson, Bailey, Eberle, Leddy, Varlamov, Martin, Cizikas, Clutterbuck already on the team.

Trading for the “star” rental rarely works out. The only way it makes sense to move the 2021 1st is if we get someone like Kubalik/mantha in return.

Our prospect pool is pretty bad. Other than wahlstrom, there’s no one else in the system that will end up being a top 6 F.

Trading for Tyler ennis or nick cousins is the better move and it won’t cost much

A low first round pick, doesn’t usually turn out a top-6 forward either. How many oppurtunities will this team have to go for it? NHL is probably one of the hardest leagues in the world, this group have shown that they for real, time to go all-in before the older core has run out of juice. Tyler Ennis, Nick Cousins, they will not make any difference to a Komarov or Dal Colle. That 3rd line left winger is a gaping hole. If we want to beat Tampa, We have do be able to roll 4 strong forwardlines.

Looking at the low first round picks dating back to 2015, the odds are decent at getting a top 6 F. Like I said, trading for the "star" rental rarely works out..Rick Nash, shattenkirk, hall (last year). Hall showed he couldn't adapt to a defense 1st system in Arizona, so what makes you think he would succeed on the isles?

Nick cousins and Ennis are pretty significant upgrades to Dal Colle and they both have the same number of goals as Taylor hall this season.

I think that Islanders top-6 is better than Arizonas for start. Obviously it’s a gamble, you don’t buy Hall for what he’s produced this season, but his upside and potential that he can turn things around in a better environment, system, legit chance at winning, etc. Everything is’t about points, look at the underlying stats and compare Hall with Ennis/Cousins. Also don’t believe they would be ”significant” upgrades to Dal Colle.

I don’t imply that we necessarily have to go for the ”star player”, it’s just that I think Hall would check a lot of boxes for our team.

I agree not everything is about points, but halls underlying numbers show that he’s had a shooting efficiency problem for the last 3 years. It’s too risky to give up a 1st rd pick for him.

I’d say cousins would be a significant upgrade over dal colle - and he wouldn’t cost more than a 3rd rd pick.

I’ll have to admit your’e right about Cousins. Didn’t intrigue me over Dal Colle, want the big move I guess, but looks real solid of what you showed me, definitely better than I thought.

im not opposed to trading the 1st if it means we get a young top 6 winger with term, but I think trading for guys like hall/palmieri is too risky. I would give up a 1st+ for kubalik/debrincat/mantha, maybe even arviddson. But id rather give up a mid round pick for a solid 3rd liner with speed than a 1st rd pick for a rental.

I understand that but I think if we are gonna take risks now is the time to do it our window is open now we have a lot of guys in their prime locked in and with competent coaching and being surrounded by good players I 5ink he can turn it around. This years draft is a crapshoot anyway
