Massive overpay for two guys who seem to well past their due date. Kerfoot and Engvall might be fair exchange for value on the ice.....the rest. It's 2021.

i mean, its not an overpay at all. kerfoot and engvall are depth forwards and kerfoot is under contract past this year. we also have to retain a ton of money.

you really think taylor hall will continue to shoot 3%

I see the intrigue for a deep playoff run but feel its bad business giving up so many valuable assets for rentals. A package such as this needs to yield an impact player with term on a value forward contract.

The issue is with the cap staying flat you cant give up so many assets for rentals when we have the three guys making what they do. These assets need to be spent wisely to keep the team competitive for the coming years.

Don't know why you say Kerfoot is depth player. Even Engvall has secured a top 12 spot. Gee those two Sabres have 22 points this season, the two Leafs 17 points. Plus the Leafs lose two players and don't have those two two Sabres in the lineup for over two weeks. It's a marginal improvement to the Leafs at best. The Leafs have lots of good forwards. Certainly a lot better trade partners than the Leafs. Let's have this discussion at TDL. Sabres aren't getting that return from any team(s)

Leafs or no team would offer nearly that much Hall and Staal. Certainly the Leafs don't need two middling forwards which Hall and Staal are at their stage of their careers. Fact is the Leafs don't need to acquire two middling forward exchange for two. middling forwards.

I mean the idea that the difference between taylor hall/eric staal and kerfoot/engvall is marginal is quite a statement. also, saying someone is a "top 12" player is by definition depth. depth = bottom 6

It's 2021. Hall and Staal....so what. Staal would certainly be depth to the Leafs at centre. Gee at Hall, don't know he is even the in the top 6. They might top 6 for the Sabres, but not the Leafs.
The Leafs are 2nd in goal scoring, 2nd in the league in goal differential.

It's a slight over pay for Hall and Staal. Not much though, take out the second round pick and it's probably fair.
