The Leafs are NOT trading Kadri. Babcock loves him as a player.

I honestly wouldn't even know where his value would be right now because he's still young and has lots of room to grow but he's had a bad season. So that's a toughie.

The worse part for the Leafs is that they give up three regulars....and don't dismiss the value of Zaitsev, next year he's about 4.6m signee next year. Having Orpik is a negative and a first rounder is way into the future.
Kunzentov what is he....a 75 point guy or a 35 point guy? From a Washington view, how do they sign all the RFAs and some UFAs next year when they are so close to the cap now?

risk of kuznetsov being 75 point getter out ways anything any of the playes in the trade have done yet in there nhl career. and orpik isnt a bad defenseman he easily could be in toronto's top 4...also getting a top goalie prospect. lets be honest you guess are future team nad not going anywhere in the next 3 seasons anyway.

kuz has potential to be better than matthews

Megatron: You seem to showing lack of knowledge in team building, when you claim Orpik could easily be in Toronto's top four. He's not as good as Gardiner, Rielly and Zaitsev. And Leafs have cap space coming up so making lateral trades (if that) isn't a wise more for a rebuilding team. And paying Orpik is 5.5m is a big overpayment. 99% Armchair GMs can find better deals than that. And to say the Leafs aren't going anyway in the next three year anyways is probably just fictional just to justify your argument. If the Leafs are so bad, why do you want three of their players?
Kuz has potential to be better than Matthews? Well maybe, but Matthews is 19 years old and Kuz is 24. Tell me who is likely to have a better career. And Matthews has been centring two virtually rookies....Nylander and Hyman. Considering who Kuz has been playing with, Matthews probably is superior player now.
Let's be honest....it's not a good trade for the Leafs.....which is OK, but for you to use those arguments in your rebuttal and to expect any knowledgeable fan to believe them...C'mon man.
Kuz better potential than Matthews?....maybe the Leafs should be doing that deal....Kuz for Matthews. I guess you wouldn't do it, cause Kuz has so much more potential.

Haha orpik is better than gardiner. He's not a top 4 in D.C. Bc D.C. Has a fantastic top 4.

And he said potential to be better idk what Matthews is on pace for but I highly doubt anyone would say kuznetsov at his best is a lot worse than Matthews at his best

And it's not a lateral move imo kuznetsov is way better than any player listed. With orpik added all he had to do was add bowey and it's a done deal Toronto should jump on that deal so they might have a chance to have a one two punch like pens hawks or oilers with Leon and McDavid

Orpik isn't nearly as bad as you think he is but a knowledgeable person like you should already know this huh haha

Capitalfail67: Well, any knowledgeable knows Orpik is not worth 5,5m a year,,,what the 25th highest paid Dman in the league. It's because of that Orpik anchor, the Caps may not be able to sign Alzner this summer. I'm suggesting that Leafs (or just about any Armchair GM) can find better value than Orpik's 5.5m.
I don't disagree with you that Kuz is probably the best player o traded. But for the Leafs to give up the 2nd,3rd and 4th best player in the trades certainly isn't worth it for the rebuilding Leafs.
I'm sorry you don't know how well Gardiner and first year NHLer Zaitsev. are playing. And a big part of the NHL now is managing your cap space, and Orpik as a suggested earlier ain't worth it.

The three defencemen protected should be Carlsson, Orlov and Nishkanen before the Las Vegas draft. The trade value for Orpik would be very low as a team would have to protect a 36 year old $ 5,500,00 in the top three or four. Tom Wilson, I like the player but the does Washington protect him also.
