Curious to know why trading Pettersson seems to be so popular right now?

this deal is way too inflated, you can probably get Beagle for like a 5th, or Vancouver might pay you to get him depending on how the negotiations go with Hughes and Pettersson

I can understand the trading him part since we now have Dumo, Matheson, Riikola, and POJ also on the left side. What I don’t understand is why it’s so popular to trade him at such a huge loss.

It's just weird to me. You guys signed him to a big extension, and while he hasn't exactly been good, nobody is going to want to touch that contract right now. You might as well keep him, since he has shown upside in the past.

Except Beagle isn't good so this is a huge waste of assets.

I guess that's part of my confusion here...you signed him to a big extension and now he's not playing very well. Why would someone else take the remaining $16ish mil off your hands in exchange for $2.2, while likely giving up the better picks?

I think that’s more to do with lack of training camp and the constant shuffling of partners due to the pens inability to go 5 minutes without a significant injury lol

I feel like you might as well keep him, tbh. You wouldn't want to have given up Spronger for nothing, right?

Signed,

A sad Ducks fan.

Yeah I don’t see anyone trading for him til after expansion anyway. Pens fans always need that scapegoat so they can trade. I’m willing to bet if Rust goes into a slump, we will see pens fans making acgm after acgm trading him for practically nothing lol
