I don't like ACGMs that suggest 9 trades and 7 UFA signings (new UFAs).

But this is too far the other way.

I really doubt every player comes back for pretty well what they make this year (aside from Hyman). The KHL guys, why would either side want to re-sign next year?

Also, if the Leafs liked Thornton at C, he would have already got a chance there.

The leafs wouldn't be able to afford anyone better than him, assuming they could convince them to sign.

They could if they trade for one like Darcy Kuemper.

It really depends on how much Hyman asks for. I can see him talking an even cheaper deal, I just don’t know how much. It’s definitely possible.

We’ll just have to see I guess. I trust Dubas and I’m confident he’ll do his best.

You're saying the Leafs couldn't sign or trade for a goalie better than Freddy with that 5M this ACGM gives him?

Last Two Off-Seasons
Jacob Markstrom - $6M (.907)
Braden Holtby - $4.3M (.893)
Semyon Varlamov - $5M (.929)
Petr Mrazek - $3.125M (.955 in 3 games)
Robin Lehner - $5M (.890 but only 5 games)

Next off-season sees Rask, Rinne, Raanta, Reimer, Grubauer, Mrazek, Rittich, and Bernier all hit the market and I'd sign any one of them to run a tandem with Campbell. Most of which should be less than the 5M Freddy was given in this ACGM.

The only one that's half decent of that bunch that might sign with the leafs is reimer

Then you need to watch other teams. Bernier has a .910 behind a TERRIBLE Detroit Red Wings team, I'd bring him back on a 2YR, 2M. He's a competent goalie who had two good seasons in Toronto (and one bad one). He and Campbell could be very good. Grubauer has a ,917 this season. His career worst is .915. I'd take him at $4-5M over Freddy for $4-5M. The guy is a stud. Rittich has the same SV% that Freddy has (or there abouts), and better then Reimer (by .01 lol).

And none of those goalies except Grubauer can realistically lead a team to the cup. And Grubauer is not signing with Toronto.
