Trades
1.
ANA
  1. Geekie, Morgan
  2. Rees, Jamieson
  3. 2021 1st round pick (CAR)
CAR
  1. Hakanpää, Jani
  2. Rakell, Rickard
Additional Details:
retain 1-1.5 mill

I like this one because Geekie is NHL ready and Rees has good chemistry with Perreault
2.
BOS
  1. Rakell, Rickard
Additional Details:
Ive seen this one thrown around a bit, don't really know how to balance it if that is needed, im pretty neutral on it
3.
ANA
  1. Lavoie, Raphael
  2. 2021 1st round pick (EDM)
EDM
  1. Rakell, Rickard
Additional Details:
50% retained

Lavoie is very offensively talented but isnt the most well rounded player from my readings. also the pick for this would like be a bit earlier than most other options, it currently sits in the early 20s. Also Rakell would be a monster next to McDavid, i dont see how he doesn't return to a 30 goal pace, hell I wouldnt be surprised if he got 40 in 82 lol
4.
ANA
  1. Kerfoot, Alexander
  2. Niemelä, Topi [Reserve List]
  3. 2021 1st round pick (TOR)
  4. 2021 4th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
4th is conditional and becomes a second if the leafs passing the first round ;)
TOR
  1. Rakell, Rickard
Additional Details:
Retain 1 mil

Niemela looks like a solid prospect with decent upside, probably not quite as much as Rees or Lavoie though. Also the first will likely be the latest of all previously mentioned. Also Kerfoot needs to go to ANA for cap purposes.

I like the Debrusk for Rakell trade though Boston may have to add a young D like Zboril or Lauzon

I have a feeling the Canes are not trading Rees...I think he’s the most underrated prospect they have, and could be quite valuable as a 3rd line scoring forward in the future. We are going to need a few guys on ELCs like this as contract extensions kick in over the coming few years.

I like the idea of adding Rakell, but don’t see how they’d pay this kind of a price.

Honka is the prospect I would personally target from you guys, what would the odds of him being included over Rees?

I think the boston trade is the best. But Rakell in edm could be like rust in Pitt making great players even better

I totally see your point, Rees is definitely underrated, But if im Bob Murray i would at least try to get Rees. What other prospect would you consider subbing in? Gunler? Suzuki? Maybe Ducks add more retention or take bad cap back, the deal could definetly be molded and adapted

yeah that one scares me, part of me thinks EDM would need to overpay hard since they are in the same division

I’ll say this - RR matches the profile of what the Canes would be willing to pay up for...high pick and quality prospect. They are stingy with 1st unless term is involved (which there would be 1 year of term with Rakell). He’s also versatile (while he’d be a wing, you could play at center in a pinch).

Anything is possible, I just don’t think Rees would be the guy. Canes show their cards by signing ELCs. Jarvis, Rees, and Ponomarev were signed this year, and Suzuki last year.

I’d say any unsigned prospect or Bokk would be fair game.

Edmonton is only 1 or 2 of the right players away from being scary. I wouldn't send Rakell to them being in the same division. Unless it was a huge over pay like you said

I think BOS would be reluctant to throw in a LHD due to their lack of depth there, particularly Lauzon who has been a top pairing guy when healthy. Maybe a pick.

I like the idea of a Rakell/DeBrusk swap.

Rakell has been a slightly better player the last few years, but DeBrusk is still under team control after his contract ends while Rakell would be a UFA. With DeBrusk being an RFA I think it balances out the deal. Maybe some small adds on either side to make everyone happy, but nothing crazy.

If Rakell is available I hope it’s a canes trade. Just seems to be a perfect match. Rakell fits what CAR needs and they have enough quality prospects that even if it’s not their top prospect it’s could still be a quality prospect.

Very true, the canes trade is probably my favorite of the ones proposed

They'll lose one in expansion. They'll protect Carlo-McAvoy-Grzelcyk. Maybe they even go 4-4. So their not giving much up and neither LHD has been impressive

I mean there’s a chance they’re gonna lose one for sure, but they still need the player for the present. I mean Lauzon when healthy has been a top pair guy and Zboril has been a solid versatile player for them... in actuality they have been impressive.

In actuality they have been playing with McAvoy.

Thats the whole point of trading so... in the present they'd be getting Rakell

And then create a hole on defense... and BOS will most likely need a DeBrusk type player to land a top pairing D-man. Also Lauzon has benefitted from playing with McAvoy, but hes been a good player in his own right. Hes allowed McAvoy to contribute more offensively. I like Rakell a lot, but i just dont see 2 (current) top half of the roster players from BOS going the other way. Just doesnt make sense for BOS, they fill one hole by creating another. Also I dont think Rakell is worth Lauzon + DeBrusk. If they want to trade Lauzon b/c they think they'll lose him they can use him to either fill another hole, or use him with Debrusk to get a better player.
