**disclaimer** - i'm not a sabres fan, but wanted to try and see what can be done. Non NHL players were unsigned as i do not know their value

basically shed as much $$ as you can, eat salary, and take on bad contracts for 2 years, get as many picks as possible next 2 years, hope to develop them, and then have ~$40-50 million available for the stud UFA classes of 2023-24/2024-25

No from Isles, have no interest in Risto and cannot afford them anyway.

not sure how being a leaf fan makes a difference, but what is the value of a young 24 yr old C who makes $10m a year on a bad team? the way i saw it, ducks get a #1 C for the departing Getzlaf, a young G to replace Gibby, Buff gets a true #1 G, and a replacement C the ducks want to move on from and the $ are similar enough

I struggled with who in the states would want hall, and looked for a team who could use some scoring, and then offered to take back the Leo contract to sweeten the deal. figured Risto would be a solid replacement for Boychuck

Since I see you didn't re-sign McCabe, I assume this is trade done at the 2021 TDL. McCabe is injured and out for the season, nobody is trading for him.

You don't trade a 1C for a goalie. Thats not how this league works. You would not trade Matthews, Mackinnon, McDavid etc for a goalie. Thats a joke

i see the point you are trying to make, however eichel is not any of the above. right now he is closer to a younger Getzlaf/Giroux type 1C. whereas Gibson is the goalie equivalent of Mcdavid/Matthews, and is 64% of the cost of Eichel, and you also get career average 25G/25A #2/3C as part of the package. and as an added bonus.... henrique deal ends when Matthews and other stud UFA's (see description) come up too

difference of opinion is ok, but provide thought to your point, rather than a dismissive "thats a joke" comment

at this point, with all due respect the Sabres have sabotaged themselves quite well, and to get out of the mess they will need to sell most assets, take back bad contracts, and re-build (again) for 2- 3 years from now.

In the staal trade, I know Gardiner has a crappy contract, but not a chance we give up our 2nd best prospect in Ryan Suzuki. No deal 🙅.

It is a joke. You do not EVER trade a 1C especially one who is top 10-15 in the league player wise for a goalie you just don't. If Buffalo is trading Eichel it for a massive haul of prospects/ young players/ picks. Buffalo has 2 solid goalie prospects in the pipeline and an underrated goalie in Ullmark. Gibson is great but goalies do not ever get that much value on the trade market it does not matter who it is.

No chance eichel gets moved with a goalie coming back as the main piece. Thats not even in the ballpark. Plus dahlin has played his way into a bridge, not a long term contract (that may be up for debate), and my guess is mccabe comes back to buffalo on a 1yr deal, as he just destroyed his acl/mcl/meniscus, and he will want to show that he is back to normal before selling himself short on the market. Hes out for the next 8 months incidentally.

Why, that would be ridiculous. Nobody would ever trade a franchise center for a goalie.
