Because DeBrusk+Kase > Kane. And look at Kane's contract, not many teams would want that, including the Bruins.

I’m a Bruins fan, so I'm not just being dense. I've heard that they might not even start Kase after he comes back from IR. I also love Evander Kane, though. How much of Kane’s salary do you think they would have to retain to make this deal happen?

"I've heard that they might not even start Kase after he comes back from IR" Never heard about that

The salary isn't the only issue, the term and the M-NTC are two other factors. I don't see the Bruins taking any long-term contracts right now.

There isn't even a timetable yet for Kase return. As for Kane, I'm all set. He can put up points, but also racks up a ton of PIM, is below average defensively and a little (as they say) high maintenance. Not a guy that seems to fit the Boston mold.

My hope is that he would cut down on stupid penalties (which he has been doing) while still bringing the same physicality that DeBrusk could never hope to offer.

He's 29yr old, he's not suddenly going to change his game. He's also pretty inconsistent year to year with production. Even looking at the last 5 years his P/GP is anywhere from 0.66 to 0.87 which over 82 games works out to be about a 17 points swing.

I think Sharks should take this if offered. Kane is good and has been play more disciplined since the coach talked to him. He is pretty clutch in the playoffs. He isn't your typical Bruins player but he could help them.

Wouldn't take this honestly. Not a fan of Debrusk and Kase can't stay healthy. Kind of just diminishes our high end top-6 talent which we're already very thin on. Not a bad trade, just not good from a needs viewpoint.
