i dont think that gets it done either but just bc the Ask is high doesnt mean the market will be high returns, teams can ask for all they want, it will be how motivated the ducks are selling and what teams are willing to give up now that its all but confirmed a flat cap for up to 4 years.

End of the day he should still get a 1st, a good prospect, and a young nhl player with some upside.

Yeah, that's about what I was thinking. I also don't think there's any reason to rush to trade him. I'd personally prefer to move Silfverberg if possible.

I think moving Silfverberg would be tough, him and Henrique have the same contracts and just looking looks like they have the same offensive numbers now this season.
Maybe in the offseason when teams can start moving money around a bit more in hockey trades.

Rackell is really your prized trade asset with that contact, teams will probably will pony up a nice return once everything is settled. Avs would probably be a 1st, Helleson, and Jost

Yeah, I don't think it would be easy to move Silf.

With Rico, I actually think there's a decent chance Seattle would take him without us having to give up a ton. There's not likely to be many options at C in the expansion draft, and he's still productive, even after a slow start (The whole team had a slow start though). Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part, though I'd have no problem keeping him, as his contract only runs until he's 35. He's a decent mentor to some of the younger C's who are finally starting to show some solid signs of development on the team.

I'd probably do a 1st, Helleson and Jost for Rakell though. Does that mess up your guys expansion protection plan though?

doesnt really mess up avs expansion plans bc Jost was probably protected due to his cheap cap hit. ITs all on the assumption that EJ waives his NMC, and at this point hes been hurt all season so at this rate he might even quality fo the pro rated long term injury clause of missing 60+ games. Even if hes not, why would they select a 33 year old Dman at 6m who has injury issues.

Protection would be:
Mackinnon Rantanen Landeskog Kadri Burakovsky Rackell Nichushkin
Makar Girard Toews

That leaves Compher Donskoi Graves for the to pick from
