The Namestnikov trade looks good. I would think DET would be in need of Defenseman

We have plenty that will be stepping up on the way, we aren't trading nam for a 27 year old rookie. We aren't trading nam period. He is from detroit and wants to be there and we want him there. He is one of the only players signed past this year. He's being kept, especially for this offer. This is a pass all day long and to be honest not even close.

With the Namestnikov trade the Wings have 5 players 2 of which have to be left unprotected and those are Larkin, Mantha, Fabbri, Namestnikov and Neilson. So Namestnikov and Neilson are the only players out of that group they will leave unprotected. So unless you are sending a player back that meets those criteria and has as similar contract to Namestnikov (1yr left and under $2M) I just don't see it happening.

Also Yzerman is building through the draft the chance he includes a pick in this deal is slim to none unless he is getting a better pick back in return. he has also said he is looking for picks at the deadline not players.
