Quick Fix 2 Feedback Boogaloo

Created by: Zubrowka
Team: 2020-21 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 11, 2021
Published: Mar. 11, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Thanks to feedback from buffbry, jdfitz77, salamicheese, and diehardredwingsfan58, this is a quick follow-up with some adjusted trade consideration and partners.

Ristolainen trade presumes Sabres rebuild / fire-sale rumor is true.

Ghost to LA is based on the report that Rob Blake wants a dynamic defenseman on the left. While Blake supposedly wants an "under 25" player, this trade presumes he compromises on age for a high ceiling player with some term at a reasonable cap and more affordable trade price.

The main idea here from Philly's perspective is to 1) Solidify the defense without breaking the cap now or in the near future, and also to 2) Acquire an experienced, scoring winger to play alongside Patrick, improving scoring depth along with the opportunity for him to develop his game in the limited role he is playing (<15 min ATOI).

Comments and feedback welcome.

The Kings will likely explore the free agency in the post-season rather than pay two picks for Gostisbehere.

I do agree. I'm assuming Gustafsson is just added to keep Philadelphia under the cap because Detroit doesn't have a good chance of keeping him in Detroit. But the draft picks alone are enough to make this happen.

It's accurate value. But I think Philly would likely just keep Gus and their 3rd vs Staal.

You are probably right but this was posted by a Philly fan and since it is about even value wise, I wasn't thinking about it.

Gus would be fine for the rest of the year to fill in for losing some of the guys we are going to lose at the deadline. Plus helping them cap wise. This is literally one of the most fair deals I've seen on here yet

Yeah I was just saying they could replace Gus with someone less important as long as his contract is up at the end of the season and it would still be good for the Wing's.

100% cap move with Gus, but I am betting AV also prefers a steady vet he is familiar with in Staal to the dynamic but shaky moments he gets with Gus.

Thanks all the thoughts and comments.

You may be right, but that 4th spot for the playoffs looks attainable with the Avs not playing as well this season, so Blake might act sooner. Any particular D you have in mind as an upcoming ufa target?

It will almost positively be a LD, on the right side they have: Doughty, Roy, Walker, and Strand. On the left other than Maata, the left side is a lot of young inexperienced players. I think they are looking for a cheap vet culture guy, Mitchell and Scuderi were big reasons for the Kings two cup runs, I could see Hjalmarsson at a low contract. I'm open to Ghost, but it's a similar situation to Maata, there is risk of him falling flat here too so I wouldn't want to give up assets unless there was retained salary.
