I have a question, why not Perfetti? Jets drafted Perfetti to be the future #2 center and now they got Dubois as that role. Why not trade Perfetti for Laine

I’d pay that. As for Samberg, I’d love for him to be a jet long term, however, I’m not passing up a chance to bring laine back. If there is one. The only ones off the table for me in a laine trade are our top 6 and maybe appleton as well as he perfetti and heinola. Anything else and I’d do it

I love Laine and what he did for the Jets.
But at this point..... I feel like.... (it kills me to say this)... the Jets truly don't need him.
Contract still an issue, fit in the lineup still an issue.

He is, he’s playing centre. Also, perfetti is playing centre with the moose rn and he looks great. He’s been running at a point per game for that past 4 games too. He’s only going to get better as the season goes on.

Because Perfetti could slide to the wing and gives us protection in the event Scheifele walks at the end of his deal. He was the 4th ranked player in the draft on many lists out there with the only knock being his skating and strength. We have time to let those develop. We also will need his ELC in the flat cap environment. We can't afford Laine and PLD. We could afford one or the other. (expensive wing, ELC on 2C or expensive 2c, ELC on the wing)

I think it will be more than a few years until the devils are at the jets' top 6 level. The majority of the jets' top 6 is already in their prime or is about to enter it. The devils forward core is at least 3-4 years from being as deadly as the jets core is imo, and that's if they reach that level since the majority of those guys are still unknowns. Either way tho, the sens, devils, and canes are 3 teams I'm really excited for once their young guys are ready. Them and the jets. I don't think many realize but right now, the jets have one of the best prospect pools in the nhl with Perfetti, Vesalainen, gustaffson, and smith up front (would be top 5 on most teams in the league) and Heinola, samberg, chisolm, stanely, and gawanke on the back end (again would all be top 5s on many teams). As for the goaltending, we have the BIRDMAN!!!. We also have holm who is quietly tearing it up in the SHL.

As for the prospects i mentioned, Perfetti vesalainen, gustaffson, heinola, samberg, and stanely are either NHL ready now or will be soon. With gawanke, chisolm, and smith not too far behind. So excited!!
