Allow me to quote Julien Brisebios from his state of the lightning press conference friday "we have absolutely zero dollars cap space."

That Palmieri trade doesn't happen unless the Devils think they have the inside track to resigning him in the offseason IMO.

25 years old, provides toughness which TOR needs, scoring a good number of goals this season, on a cheap deal for this year and next... how is that not worth a 1st?

Idk, most would say he's a 3rd liner and a 3rd line winger isn't worth a 1st.

he's definitely worth a 1st right now. Toronto's also tied for 1st in the league so that pick is in the high 20's

When he's at his best, Palmieri is on the top line for New Jersey and is a part of their core group.

Palmieri might resign with the Devils because he grew up in the Tri-State area and played for the New Jersey Devils minor hockey league system.

So, there is certainly a family/childhood/intimate connection for Palmieri when it comes to playing for the Devils.

If you took out Tullio and Berezkin and inserted just one higher quality prospect along with that 2022 2nd, Devils would be more likely to accept.

If the Devils want Tullio and Berezkin, they'll give the Oilers two 5th round picks as compensation for drafting them IMO.

he's been awful this year, he is far from a top line winger and isn't getting any younger.

that should have 0 impact on front office decisions, if you can get quality assets for him you do it regardless of if he comes back or not.

Tullio could be one of the steals of the draft, he should've went a lot higher imo. Same with Beryozkin, he's a massive winger that can score. NJ desperately needs size and scoring.

If he's been awful this year, then he wouldn't be playing for the Devils anymore. The Devils should not undersell Palmieri, if at all possible.

If you don't trade him or you offer him to come back in the offseason, Palmieri will be very open to a team-friendly extension.

On average, 5th round picks have a 10% chance or less of playing in the NHL. Although Tullio and Beryozkin might be good players, they were passed up by both the Oilers and the Devils multiple times in the draft for a reason before the Oilers finally picked them.

To be honest you are going to see Edmonton linked to every top winger in the league that may be available. Ken holland checks in on the value of every player that might be usable goes to his board and decides if they are the right guy and if they want to pay the price.

Tullio and berezkin have qualities Edmonton values for its bottom 6. Tullio especially was a steal at the draft lots of people say he should have been gone in the 3rd round. I can’t see palmieri as a fit in Edmonton anyway. The right wing is stacked and they don’t put right shots on the LW their system really suffers from playing off wing.
