Saros is injured and he isn' better than Anderson. Granlund isn't special. So now it's 1.5 years of Forsberg and Ekholm. Leafs lose current players on their roster and then have to wait weeks for players to those 4 players even to practice. Doesn't sound like a plan for the Leqfrs

Saros is probably returning next week. The rest of your analysis is opinion. I won’t argue with you but will tell you my opinion is quite different from yours.

You think they don't have to wait weeks in quarantine before even practicing? Or that Ekholm's and Forsberg's contracts are magically going to spawn extra term? That doesn't seem like opinion....

Leafs fans (as you can see) will disagree. They always want something for nothing.

Both teams are giving up basically all of their most prized trade chips. Does either side feel their getting enough value for it? I don't think I like it for the Preds or Leafs. It's too big.

Not sure what quarantine has to do with anything. And yes the term part is fact. I figured that goes without saying but clearly I have too much credit

Absolutely. Mostly for fun and to watch leafs fans talk about what an overpayment it was

Preds would be better off splitting them all up into different trades and pulling in more assets

Just saying, you thought the rest of his post was opinion when everything but Granlund seems to be based on facts, not opinion. Apparently you were giving yourself too much credit.

They'd be trading away potentially 4 out of 5 years worth of 1st round picks plus other assets for Forsberg (awesome), Ekholm (also awesome, but would be playing 3rd pairing minutes and then likely getting taken by Seattle), Granlund (who is a UFA), and a tandem goalie. In a vacuum, the value probably isn't that bad, but I don't think there is any feasibility here.

100% this trade never happens. But I appreciate you see the value is, at the least, close. I do think Ekholm plays top 4 minutes on that team and I think putting Fil and Gran with Mathews, Tavares, Nylander and Marner the best top 6 in the league. Even better than Tampa (although they are ridiculously stacked too)

I’d take Saros over Anderson. Opinion.

That is an opinion, and what would seem like a bad one when you look at the numbers. Andersen currently is at -1.3 goals saved above expected. Saros is ... hold on a sec, ive got to scroll down .... -6.0. This while Andersen plays in 75% of games and Saros plays in less than half. Saros is currently running a worse save % and GAA too. There shouldn't be a doubt who is the better goalie there.

It is opinion. That’s why i said “opinion”. Again, figured that explained it but apparently not. Imagine not taking into consideration the different caliber in teams these goalies play for. It’s ALMOST like you don’t understand hockey.

Has Ekholm played significant time on the right? I've been told by other Preds fans that he hasn't and I don't see him displacing Rielly or Muzzin on the left. That top 6 would be sick, though.

Thats why I included goals saved above expected. It uses the expected goals model, or where shots are coming from to put it in layman's terms, to measure a goalies performance. There isn't a worse team argument to be made here. Its almost like you don't understand hockey.

You posted an opinion and thats fine. The problem is when you research into that opinion, it clearly shows that it was an ill informed one.

I agree that Saros is off to a rough start this year (which happens every year with him for some reason), but is this season the only one that matters? Because if we look at the past couple of seasons, it's a different story when comparing the two. He's also a bit cheaper than Freddy. Not saying the Leafs take this, but I don't know that the Preds love it either.

I know you may not like opinion, but geez can't Nashville fans trade their players to anyone but the Leafs? Is there no market for these Nashville players to any other teams?

Well if we look at the past 2 seasons as well, Saros was better for 1 of them while Freddy was the better goalie 2 seasons ago. 1 of 3, not a good look. If we look at those seasons, Saros was better by being just above league average. The only above average season of the 6 we look at has come from Andersen. Neither of these goalies are setting the world on fire but if you had to choose one after looking at the numbers, it would probably be Andersen.
