because Malgin is younger and when he comes back for the playoffs will be very interesting to watch. Mason is a 4th liner while Malgin especially with the way he is playing in the swiss league could push to be with Nylander and Tavares.

Malgin is playing top 6 with the Lions and has 32 points in 35 games. When he comes for the playoffs hes gonna be fun to watch as he has improving his passing and. Pulijarvi benefited from going overseas and the same thing is happening with Malgin. For 2021-2022 and this years playoffs hes gonna be great to watch. Florida always gives their 4th line more ice time than other teams its nothing new. Quenneville liked a balanced attack with 4 lines getting good chunk of ice time. If mason was here he would get 5-8 mins at best.

Same reason Leafs management gives up on players like
Carter Verhaeghe, they give up on prospects way too soon, or trade their picks. Let’s hope a guy like Korshkov doesn’t turn into another one.

ah yes, having less than a point per game in the swiss league (notably the what, 7th or 8th strongest league in the world?), clearly means he is a top 6 nhl talent

In many cases players who have struggles in the NHL and took a year in europe have come back and played top 6. Jesse Pulijarvi is a classic example. If u bothered to watch malgin in the swiss league the same thing is happening. He is improving his game over there and would push for a top 6 spot with the leafs come playoff time should he decide to return.

The difference is Puljuajarvi was a highly touted, highly skilled prospect who finished 4th in Liiga scoring (a solid league that regularly pumps out good prospects) as a 21 year old. Malgin is a 24 year old not even doing as well as that in the Swiss league (not so much a pipeline for NHL talent as it is the place where washed NHLers go to finish their career, e.g. Desharnais, Andrighetta). They are not comparable and it’s a waste of time to kid yourself that he might be even close to Puljujarvi. Malgin’s a potential 4th liner, not your saviour.
