Max value of Eichel

Created by: EccE
Team: 2020-21 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 15, 2021
Published: Mar. 15, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is the max value I would give for Eichel. I see many BUF fans demanding three 1st rounders, two top prospects and a GM:s literal soul. Be realistic. You are not giving away the reincarnation of Buddha.

Eichel is a top line center. But he is not worth the entire future of a franchise.

BTW I don't think M. Johansson and Rask have any actual value, they're just there to make the cap work.

I like this trade but I think Buffalo would want a top6 player like JEK or Greenway.

I believe a trade for Eichel to Minnesota wouldn’t make sense, because Buffalo would want Kaprizov, and Minnesota wouldn’t trade him, they would be fools if they did, plus they would have to give so much for a top 10 centre in Eichel.

Eichel is a top 10 center with 5 years left on his contract. It would probably cost Rossi , Addison , beckman, and a 1st.

I am sure there are not. We live in a flat cap world, and I can't think of a single team willing to give a better offer than that.

So basically the entire future of our franchise. No thanks

So the max value you'd give up for a 24 year old top 10 center (with term) is a guy who could maybe be a top line wing, a guy who could be serviceable Dman, a good goalie prospect and 1st and 3rd in what's considered to be a weaker draft?

That's a lot of coulds and maybes for a forsure thing in Eichel

eichel is likely out the rest of the season.

i highly doubt he gets moved before NEXT offseason if at all.

24 year old 1.16 ppg centers who are signed for 5 years never come available and are hard to value gauge, but are very enticing.

Entire future? It’s funny that people think that you can actually get a superstar in his prime for a mid - late 1st and no blue chip prospects.

You’re still keeping boldy, kaprizov, fiala, and JEE in this trade, but yeah the entire future of the franchise lol - youre over exaggerating because you want to acquire an elite 1C without giving the necessary assets.

The kings can easily beat this offer

Kaprizov, Fiala and JEE are not the future. They are the present. The Kings can probably beat the offer (not giving away Byfield, tho) but why would they? I can't see them contending for at least two years. That Doughty contract drags them down a lot.

We will see this, and then we will return to this conversation. The flat cap does not affect this in any way, because Eichel will not trade at least until the summer, and secondly, Buffalo can easily take his salary back.

Ok so would you be ok with giving up JEE, fiala , beckman , and a 1st for Eichel?

If Minny is doing a trade for Eichel, it is because Guerin thinks our current core can contend. So he would not trade two key-parts of our core away. That would make no sense. But the value is somewhat correct

Sabres won’t trade Eichel unless they’re getting multiple blue chip pieces in return. They don’t have to trade him, he’s under contract. It’s not like he’s 2 years away from UFA. His best years in the league will be the next 3-4 years, his value isn’t going down.

This won’t be a quantity over quality trade. Teams will have to part with multiple high end pieces.

Boldy and a 1st are blue chippers. Jones and F. Johansson are good-not-great prospects. A 3rd is nice, I guess (it could be a 2nd tbh) and M. Johansson / Rask can provide some help for the suffering in Buffalo. They don't have to trade him but I sure hope Eichel likes chicken wings, because his next 5 years would be miserable.

A mid to late 1st in an underwhelming draft is not a blue chip asset. Boldy is great but likely tops out as a great two way 2nd line winger. Sabres are trading a top 15 player in the entire league , they need players in return that have a good chance of being top line producers, specifically centers.

If/when Eichel is made available , there will multiple teams that will have no problem “overpaying” for a superstar center on a bargain contract.

Rask and Johansson are overpaid 3rd liners, Buffalo doesn’t need them.

I wouldn't say the 11th highest cap hit in the league is a bargain, but sure.

Well they are going to have to take them because nobody has 10 million lying around in their cap space

That first round pick isn’t a blue chip and Boldy could possibly be a blue chip prospect depending on your definition.
