That sounds about right. Freddie would have needed to come with Nylander, multiple 1st rounders and like Sandin for Carolina to consider this 😂😂

Well this isn’t surprising, other than the fact that Dubas even thought to offer it in the first place.

You're totally delusional Dougie Hamilton > > > Frederik Andersen, Besides they still have Mrazek, Reimer and the new kid that's basically been lights out. So why would they remotely be interested in Andersen?

They had interest in freddie in the offseason

Also the new kid is Alex Nedeljkovic

This was on fansided 5 months ago. Perhaps we can save the outrage. The same day had Nylander going to Philly for Provorov, and also Freddie for Korpisalo straight up.

Just a bunch of foolish stuff on the offseason rumor mill, coming back mid-season.

Thanks too lazy to look up his name, but it still remains that Carolina doesn't need Andersen they're doing quite well without him. And a Hamilton for Andersen deal when Hamilton has far more value then Andersen is just plain laughable. Aaron Ward looses all credibility here.

I disagree, Ward says that it was in the off-season Dubas offered this and Waddell laughed Dubas away. That seems credible to me

Actually i should've said that Dubas looses all credibility here, After offering such a joke of an offer.

That probably wasn't the deal. Im sure there were other assets involved.

This. I'm sure the base for salary purposes was Andersen for Hamilton. Toronto would clearly need to add something else to get Carolina interested, but the first hurdle is making the salary work.

Btw this isn't as stupid as people are making it sound. Dubas may have been checking to see if Carolina had any conversations with Hamilton about an extension and if they had any thoughts of moving him because they weren't going to be able to extend Hamilton. It was a long-shot, but Dubas is paid to seek out deals like that to improve the Leafs.

The other aspect is Andersen was paid a $4m bonus and was only owed $1m in salary. Hamilton had $6m in salary due, so maybe Dubas hoped the Canes were looking to shed salary due to the pandemic? *shrug*

Ah, good to see someone in this thread using their brain. This was already covered so long ago lol. It was reported that Canes had interest in Andersen; they approached the Leafs. Leafs said they would open to moving Andersen, but only if Hamilton was coming back. From there, Canes either said "We're not moving Hamilton, end of story" or they tried to work out a deal and couldn't come to an agreement. This is really old news.

Love how a guy affiliated with the Canes reported on this and everyone is taking it as fact, because it makes Toronto and Dubas look bad.

Everyone saying lay off the weed. It’s smart. If he sets the bar high it makes them want to move someone else. Pesce for example. if not they part ways with Dougie. It’s a smart move imo.
