I mean, if Buffalo is on the list, I feel like the conversation would probably sound something like this: "Freddie buddy...I know you've been there for us for the last however many years, and we've hung you out to dry a bunch at the start of it, but now that we're potentially contenders, couldja just waive and hang out in Buffalo for the next couple of months?"

I can't imagine that he'd waive.

Not entirely sure how the process works, but I thought that they ask him to first submit a list of his 10 teams, and then they have freedom to explore trades to the other 20 teams. If Buffalo is not on his list, they wouldn't necessarily need his "permission".

I realize that but they might want Liljegren and a 2nd Round Pick, and Ullmark is a UFA after this season.

List is put together at a certain date in the offseason, so the team would already know who's on it. I find it hard to imagine that Buffalo wouldn't be on it, but I base that 100% on nothing other than pure feelings. I also just think that Dubas still thinks highly of him, and won't move him.

Agree about Dubas's view of him, and it would admittedly be harsh, as he is far from leafs biggest problem. Just doesn't give me confidence that he is the goalie to win a few rounds, let alone a cup.

I'm inclined to agree to a point, though I've never really thought that there were too many playoff losses that were squarely on his shoulders. For example, the past two playoffs he's put up a 2.75 gaa/.922 save %, and a 1.84 gaa/.936 save %. Not that those numbers are completely indicative of his performance, or that they are reasonable sample sizes to base anything off of, but it seems he always ends up taking the brunt of the blame. IMO, the team in front of him needs to be able to adjust when they get to the playoffs. The Columbus series was a great example of how they didn't last year.

His numbers this year aren't great, and there's a realistic chance that he's regressing, but I'm also not sure that moving him and banking on another goalie is the answer.
