Description
Trade 1. Duclair is struggling in Arizona this year with 5 points in 31 games and is a -5. Arizona will not make the playoffs and will be heavy sellers at the deadline - Hanzal, Doan, and Vrbata (who has had a great year on a horrible team, but I guess that's his specialty ;) @vancouverfans). Canes trade former first rounder Ryan Murphy, Lee Stempniak and a 4th for Duclair and a 5th. Ryan Murphy is going to draw into the lineup with Faulk's recent injury, he is going to (fingers crossed) do decent and produce offensively. Stempniak has had a quiet year, but he can give the yotes some much needed depth and a piece to sell at the deadline, probably could get a 3rd for him.

Murphy still has potential to be a top 6 dman and powerplay specialist in the NHL, with limited defensive zone starts and a new system under Tippet's systeams he can play more offensively and grow as a defenseman.

Carolina needs some 3rd line scoring, Duclair showed lots of promise last year, it's likely if he is traded and slotted in a top 9 role he will regain some confidence and his scoring touch.

Trade 2. Trade deadline deal - gives NSH a little bit of forward depth and reclamation project. Nesty was good last year just hasn't been able to put it back together yet. If there's an injury in the playoffs he can come in for a few games and play a solid 2-way game.

Trade 3 - deadline trade - Brendan woods is a physical AHL player who played a little bit in CAR bottom 6 last year. If there were another injury on the Kings he could step in.

You're right if the the Canes want to take a forward Duclair must be a good option and as you suggest the Coyotes would like a Dman. Maybe traded Stempniak to "contender". Surely some team would be interested and the return might be better than the Coyotes.

I would have to say Arizona wins that trade by a long shot. I agree with palhal in the sense that Stempniak wouldn't be a great choice for the Coyotes since they aren't contending right now.
