I think it’s very unlikely he’s exposed to Seattle. He’s got an inconvenient cap hit but he’s still as top pair defenseman and that has value. If the choice is losing Greenway/Soucy or Dumba, you help Greenway/Soucy pack.

PS: I think Gusev is a good fit too.

Completely see your reasoning. Some will disagree but I think it’s actually a perfect match for us to expose him and I personally think Seattle would be all over it. True his aav isn’t attractive for a new team’s cap, but how many other high aav players will they be taking? My guess is not a lot. Vegas I know had Fleury as their highest paid pick.

Anyways if I’m Guerin I’m thinking about shedding that 6m to pay for the Kaprizov/Ek/Fiala/Greenway/Kaapo extensions. Also Guerin has done a great job protecting his assets values by publicly saying along the lines of that he’s in no rush to trade Dumba and that he’s a big part of our team. Which is true to a degree. And real important that he wants the guy that he traded for in Addison to get real ice time because he looks pretty damn close to being ready.

If I’m Seattle though I personally think Dumba is exactly who I’d want on my expansion team. His play can be electric at times, he covers an offensive RHD spot that is tough to find, and he’s overall a great guy who’d potentially be one of the faces of the team

If the Jets cant get a RD this year, I can see them trading for him(If MIN is ok with trading him in the division) so MIN gets protection...not sure what you think

He’d absolutely be a guy they’d love to have. My thoughts are that I’m not willing to give Dumba away for free. If Seattle wants to trade for him, sure. There will be teams that would like to add him in the off-season and that means something comes back. Just no reason to let him go for free over a 3rd liner or a mid pair defender when you have to make that choice.

Build it around a 1st and Gustafsson and I think something is there. I think PHI is in the same boat.

Yeah maybe. I know the rumors of him going there have floated around but I’m not sure who the wild would like now that Roslovic is gone

See above. Heinola and Perfetti are off the table but a 1st and a A/B prospect is close.

over a 3rd liner

Sure, Greenway can be a bit inconsistent, but he's 2nd on the team in points and is averaging around 20 shifts a night. He's better than just a 3rd liner, so if the choice is made to protect Dumba, might as well trade Greenway for some value, because teams will definitely offer up some pieces for him. No need to give him to Seattle for free.

I think that’s the right move as well. I think he’s got a lot of value too. I get he’s got the points and he’s shown what his best looks like, but I’m not convinced he’s a top 6 guy. Also don’t forget that the current half season is only 26 games, roughly a quarter of a regular season. I’m expecting a bit of regression for him and JEE, that’s not taking away how great they have been but I think we are looking at small sample bias right now.
