You're probably right, but he's the best (potentially) Top 4 DMan we have access to without selling the farm for Ekholm or Savard. I just don't think I can handle Beaulieu getting put back into the lineup when he's off IR 😫

It’s tough cause while yes, he would definitely help us win, Chevy is smart in managing his cap long term. He knows how good Heinola is. Sliding a year puts him in line with wheeler and scheif contracts ending. Likely they just split wheelers money between the two of scheif and heinola. Chevy is always looking ahead. The fact that they’re actually holding him out, gives me a lot of hope we’ll see them trade for a dman as a stopgap. It’s funny, cause Chevy did some cap juggling, moving people around and now we have 4.5m in LTIR space, enough to fit all of Savard..... maybe something of substance is happening there.

Agreed. And opening up that roster spot with Forsberg on waivers is significant. You have to think Chevy is trying to come up with something ASAP. Wouldn’t surprise me if it were by the end of the week. Deadline is under 4 weeks away, but you gotta think the Jets have an internal deadline two weeks before that. I want Ekholm and Savard, but I think Savard is more likely given price/ right shot. Poile probably wants to get a bidding war for Ekholm going.
Wonder if they try to pry someone out of Van (if they’re out of the playoffs, which they may not be) right at the deadline because they wouldn’t need a full quarantine (maybe Hamonic or a retained Edler).
