How many more games can Ville play before it triggers the first year of his ELC?

after thinking of his ELC, doesnt it still burn off if he plays on the Moose? Just thinking of Stanley....he has played 3 years in the organization and is a RFA in a few months...and has only played this year

He played 8 games in 19-20 and 1 game this year. Cap Friendly still shows his contract as slide eligible.

From NHL...

"If a player who is signed to an entry-level contract and is 18 or 19 years of age (as of September 15 of the signing year), does not play in a minimum of 10 NHL games (including both regular season and playoffs; AHL games do not count), their contract is considered to ‘slide’, or extend, by one year."

By my count, the next time Ville suits up for the Jets, the year is burnt.

Scratch that. It resets each season. This year the NHL pro-rated the 10 game to 7 so Heinola can play 5 more games without triggering the year. Arafay was absolutely correct.

Because if you sign your ELC after your 19th birthday or something, it isn't eligible for a slide.

Not exactly doubting you but Stanley was 18...unless its if you play your first game before 19...

I'm assuming this is the exception in question... "An exception to this rule is that if the player is 19 on September 15 of the first year of their contract, and turns 20 between September 16 and December 31, their contract does not slide."

Stanley's contract did slide the first two seasons when he was still playing in the OHL. Ineligible to slide for the third season.

Contract slide games reset every year. Due to a shortened schedule the number is 7 games instead of 10 now. Yes he is slide eligible.

One thing I’m pretty sure about but couldn’t find is if playoffs are included in those games. I don’t believe they are (as I do believe many teams bring up their prospects for playoffs but don’t burn a year, but that just could be because they don’t go deep enough).

@missthewhalers i tried looking but couldn’t find anything...

Edit: finally found something (tried google searching it). Playoff games to count, you are absolutely right @missthewhalers
