So basically Ryan Nugent-Hopkins gets a $250,000 raise, Noway he's signing that cheaply. There will be quite a few teams that would gladly give him at least $6,850,000 over 7 seasons Detroit being one of them.

Do you really think, at this point in his career, he cares more about roughly 500k more a year or a legit chance at playoff runs and a cup? Because he won't be getting those chances any time soon in Detroit.

However, I do agree some competitive teams may also be able to offer him more than the Oil, could be enticing. With what everyone saw with Vegas' immediate success, I do wonder if Nuge could be enticed to go be a top fwd in Seattle. They will have the space, and may compete right away. Right next door to where he grew up in Van too.

Yup that's correct. I think the amount is already determined according to Edmonton media and Rishaug. I think the term is the hold up. But if Detroit, Arizona, Seattle and the quite a few other teams want to have a bidding war with then and if Nuge wants a fresh start, than that's up to him. I would go after Saad, Tartar, Iafallo or Hall if this doesnt work out. My max is 6.25 or else bye bye

Barrie isn’t good and hes going to fall off a cliff sooner than later IMO.

The smart thing to do would be to protect 8 skaters (I don’t think Seattle would want to sign RNH long term so you can leave him exposed) and protect Jones.

Also for some reason I think team hate JP and Drai. So add Hyman who causes crap and you have the Hate Line

I don't think protecting 3 LHD is "the smart thing to do" when they have Samorukov and Broberg coming up fast. I'd rather they protect 3 additional wingers, since that's not an area of club depth.

I'm not sure he will have a choice. I don't think teams will be throwing big deals this summer. One thing for sure though if he does sign is he won't be the 3rd line lw.

The way Tippett juggles line, him and Holloway can be switched.

Hyman isn't leaving Toronto at least for now, he grew up in the city and has all of his family here, especially when he is only getting maybe 1 mill more than he will get in Toronto.

The only team I see trying to make a splash this summer would be Chicago, Bowman will be pressured by the fans and ownership to get something done with all the cap space they will have and some of the success they have had this year.

I'd keep Bear. The question is whether you re-sign Barrie or Larsson. Barrie is 30 at the beginning of next season and not as good defensively, I don't think you can reasonably replace Bear with Barrie for these reasons.

Personally I think it would depend on the ask from both UFA's, I'd be willing to walk away from either guy if the ask was too high or too long. I think Larsson would be of more interest just due to his skillset, as a healthy Bear and Bouchard could likely replace a lot of Barrie's offense. Larsson on a 2-year deal would be my gameplan, and then he can be traded summer 2022 if the Oilers are able to land a better defensive defenseman like Colton Parayko or Seth Jones.

Yes Larsson is really needed IMO. Barrie is a pretty special player. It is a hope that Bouchard will get to be like him. But there are not many in the NHL like him. Thats why I went in your direction as well.
