"TOR
Wilson, Tom
WSH
Andersen, Frederik
Der-Arguchintsev, Semyon
2021 1st round pick (TOR)"

When you meant to click "Oshie," but accidentally hit "Wilson."

Oshie's on a 59 point pace this year, plays both special teams, and can play 1R, 2C, 3R, 3C, PPR, PPC, PPLD, or PK. A Buffalo fan suggested Tage Thompson and a high 2nd for Oshie, this morning. Maybe they're giving up on Thompson and just valuing Oshie at a high 2nd, but to outbid a high 2nd, a late 1st doesn't seem too out there.

eta: yes, Andersen and Der-Arguchuntsev have some value, too, so yeah, it's a bit of an overpay for Oshie, unless Tor is clearing the way for a Merzlikens trade that hasn't happened, but above they are, so WSH gets to shrug off Andersen's value and point out that Der-Arguchuntsev might be their fourth ranked center prospect after the trade, slightly behind McMichael, Protas, and Lapierre, but slightly ahead of Pilon. Granted, you can never have too many skilled prospects, but that's not a reason to move a 1R on a good contract when the team is in win-now mode.

Oshie isn't on the left side and that's the only way I see the leafs moving the first this year is for a 1/2 LW

Ahhh. Neither is Wilson. WSH could afford to trade a left-shot wing like Hagelin or Panik and still contend. Both are great on PK, which has been Tor's weakness this year. Panik's better at faceoffs and scoring goals. Hagelin's better at rushing the puck out of the defensive zone. Either would be a fine return for a decently retained Andersen. No pick or prospect necessary, although I don't doubt that WSH would give something for SDA if he's available.

I'm not up to date on Hagelin or Panik but I think they are more looking for someone in the mold Bertuzzi. I'm probably one of the few who would say I wouldn't want to move SDA. I think he's going to be a really really good 3C for us in two-three years

Panik's closer than Hagelin to that, with a 20g40p season when he played 2L in Chicago, but they're checking wings/PK guys. Hagelin's quick with the puck. Panik scores more from down low in front of the net. Won't get big minutes in that role behind Wilson and Oshie in WSH, but he might be more in line with, like, a Zach Hyman type of wing. Not a Bertuzzi, at all, but who has the cap space for a Bertuzzi?

I'm pretty sure Bertuzzi is only 3.75 which can be doable

Yeah. Especially this offseason I could see Tor figuring that out.
