Was thinking about New Jersey earlier. They have a lot of guys who will be in their late 20s by the time the rebuild is over. I mean Wood could definitely be one of them. Idk if New Jersey would be willing to part with him just yet, but given the right offer I guess they could go for it, I mean he is around half a point a game on a bottom team right now, so given the chance to play 3rd line minutes in Toronto could be very beneficial for him

Wood-Kerfoot-Hyman could be the most annoying forechecking line in the league. Just 3 guys who are fast and relentless on the puck.

Nice overpay.

Your following the golden rule. The best time to trade for players is when their shooting percentage is double what it normally is.

He's fallen back to earth the last bit (5pts in 17 games) too.

14 hits in 26 games, seems to more focused on goal scoring.

60 pts in his last 157 games (that's 31p pace over 82gp)

I really don't see the point in spending big on this guy?? Am I missing something?

I hate Craig Button so much for saying Wood can get a Coleman haul in return. Reality is Coleman is and still is the better player. Wood just has speed and some offensive skill. Not what we need.

in a nutshell every time I hear from TSN or Sportsnet or some podcast its all cringe

Kyprios

Benett is worth Robertson + tears of joy

Button

Wood is worth a 1st + top prospect tears of joy

whats the next hot take

Only guys talking sense are surprisingly Dreger (said Dubas would just trade a 1st before the prospects), Johnsson (leafs in on Ekholm which still makes to much sense) and Friedman who named a very good forward for cheap (Granlund) among others who wont cost us much.

Yeah, I'm so glad Kypreos doesn't have as far of a reach now to influence people into thinking a trade like that makes sense.

Friedman never gets too outlandish. Johnson is bang on 99% of the time.

Did Button really say that about Wood? That would be the reason his name is popping up on the boards now.

Hallander will be an NHL regular, Hirvonen has a high ceiling but a low floor. Engvall is like, really tall and deceptively fast, hes 90% neck.

I don't feel like the package here is as good as Foote and a first. Definitely not putting Amirov, Sandin, Liljegren or Robertson in there. Engvall is there to make the cap work, although he's not a bad player either.

Hallander and Hirovinen are high B prospects on par as being the same as an A prospect when traded together so thats also a big no thanks
