He would be perfect for leafs 3rd line. No idea what it would take however. I read a report that they would retain half.

Sounds like Simmonds is back within a week, so Leafs can't take on that much salary.

I'd be interested in him, but that's a tough deal to pull off.

It's a constructive post for sure I just wonder with the Ducks seeming more eager to compete than rebuild if they'll see 4 years of retention as a big problem

Or maybe they're just posturing

Either way they're clowns but that might fowl it up

Pun very intended

I tried the buyout simulator for fun

Henrique hit would be approx 2m for 6 years if bought out this summer

2.9m retained for 4 years is about the same cap hit for shorter

The buyout isnt that bad but a trade with 50% RS could be an option for ANA. There's more to consider obviously like eating 1/3 of slots for RS players for 4 years

I feel like the clown comment is unwarranted.

I’d assume they’ll try to get Seattle to take him. The lack of C’s that are likely available through expansion could easily make him a choice. If he can maintain his recent production, he becomes a palatable (though overpaid) option if Seattle considers themselves a team in contention.

On the flip side, if Seattle passes on him (which is also quite possible), there’s really no reason to worry about holding onto him. Plenty of cap space, and he’s still a solid player who would be the only real experienced C on the Ducks roster if Getzlaf doesn’t re-sign.

Yeah so they retain a little more but 2 years less and get a little bit of value. Likely more than above.

Personally I don't see why a rebuilding team would want to dump him. They're stuck not being good for a year or two.

The only reason to get rid of him now is if they need the spot in the line up.

But if Getz leaves and him they'll be throwing zegras to the wolves with no protection.

As I said I really don't see the urge to get rid of him as they should want a vet to protect their young C's anyway.

But there's rumours they want to trade him so I just tried to see what it would look likr
