Reminder : Barclay Goodrow got a 1st. If he can get a first (4th liner), Hall's potential playing on a line with Tavares and Nylander can get a first

not sure if potential of playing with better linemates comes into play when making a trade.

also, everyone knew that was a gross overpayment for goodrow, but with that being said, he did have an extra year on his contract on a cheap deal.

Well Goodrow had 8 goals when he was traded...I don't think Hall can reach that before TDL 🤣

Hall has really good underlying numbers and there will be retention. Easily worth a late first from a contender.

Jack Eichel had 2 goals this year in 21 games. 2! Everyone knows the Buffalo organization and Krueger is/was the problem. Getting him outta there will instantly boost his stats, especially on this team. 4 Mil for an extra difference maker is a steal, and not having to worry about the cap repercussions in the offseason is a bonus

Yeah I think its a tradeoff to be made. A guy who can score goals vs a 4th liner on a 900k contract. If you don't want Hall on this team in the playoffs for a late 1st in a weak draft, then that says a lot about your commitment to winning vs just being competitive. This team hasnt broken the 1st round in their current form, the FO should be more motivated than ever to move a 1st to acquire a difference maker.

All the Sabres need is one team to bid up the price and they will have their 1st.

It’s just that bc one team was willing to pay a ridiculous price but it’s hard sledding for teams to justify moving a 1st with a flat cap up to 4 years. Teams are really going to need elcs to fill out their rosters, so I don’t think a bidding war giving out 1st,

Those will be very much protected by teams, defaulting to cheaper pick ups. This is not about commitment to winning etc it’s just being smart financially, those 1st might have to come in handy later

The avs under Sakic have never traded a 1st round pick, dosa that mean they aren’t committed to winning or they just use their pro scouting and analytics department to its full potential to find smarter buys

Kerfoot and a late 2nd is not getting hall. If kerfoot is so good why is he in every trade offer leafs fans make. We will get a first and or a really good prospect. Or we will sign him. Peace out

They could get a first but I doubt he's worth a first.

Hence why I want him nowhere near Toronto. Let another team overpay for him.

That was in 2012....a trade almost a decade, 2 cabs, and a global pandemic ago has 0 bearing on trade values today.

If hall as so good why would Sabres be struggling to score. The same can be said here

Hall is a very flawed player and if he’s biggest asset is being an offensive play driver and he’s not producing offense...maybe we don’t get hung up on hall the name like he’s an elite talent anymore

That’s not the point, you brought up an irrelevant trade In today’s context

In a flat cap, most teams on LTIR and hall with a nmc Clause, the Sabres are going to have to work hard to find a home for him, it’s not a slam dunk he will be moved bc of how much he is I. Control with his nmc and his cap hit limits hits options

Buffalo won’t have much leverage in terms of demands

It has context when every year teams overpay at the deadline out of desperation. The post was mostly a joke for sabres fans but of course a Habs fan has to come and be super serious for God knows why.

I'm sorry but all I see is unstable/unprofessionnal management, very bad development and /or prospect evaluation and poor free agency insight. No offence.

I know it hurts to be told your team sucks. But recognizing the problem is the first step to solving it/them.

And also I apologize for doing many jokes about their bad karma, It's not a attack on Buffalo citizens. They deserve way better than that. Cheers.
