Scott mayfield

Created by: Isles777
Team: 2020-21 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 18, 2021
Published: Mar. 18, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I thought trotz did a good job with the lines in the 3rd, but he should've done it earlier. The flyers are such a bad team who have no business making the playoffs, they didn't test Carter hart at all in the first two periods. Hart has been one of the worst goalies in the league this year, the game plan should have been to throw everything at him for the start.

Until they make a trade , trotz should keep the lines from the 3rd period.

I think he's played well for the most part. I can see that argument, but he's so good at walking the line and changing the angle of his shot

Scott Mayfield really killed the vibe after the wahlstrom goal. Jesus Christ.

I mean I don't know the first thing about trying to change a player's position, but Aho just has so many traits of your speedy North-South scoring winger. He might be the fastest guy on the team (besides Barzal), he seems to want nothing more than to jump up and join the rush, he does have a really versatile shot, but then he has next to no defensive awareness and isn't all that physical.

Maybe I'm too enamored with his goal from tonight, but I think he's shown enough pure talent in the last three games to at the very least be considered for a future role on this team (not written off like I think literally most of us had). The only problem is that he's a "defenseman" and I don't think he's the type of "defenseman" our coaching staff and front office are very interested in.

I agree with with you. He’s very talented. I don’t think this coaching staff would be the one to convert him to a winger, what do you see happening with him? IMO he gets taken by Seattle or traded before the deadline for a rental

Yeah I think they showcase him for awhile longer and then when Dobson comes back he gets traded shortly thereafter for whoever they get for the top 6. My level of disappointment will be dependent on who they get and what else they gave up. There's just so much offensive potential there, I really hope we don't let it go to waste

Aho grades out really well in prospect models. His point production was similar to mark giordano - but yeah I’ve given up hope that they see him as a regular moving forward.

Yup can confirm barzal-ebs-Nelson-bailey-pulock-leddy didn’t leave the ice (Nelson swapped for Pageau on the Faceoff on the right circle but besides that one play)

I shut it off after lindblom scored. Is trotz out of his mind lmao. After I just praised him for his line changes. This guy really had Bailey out there over wahlstrom down a goal 😂😂😂

Yeah I was watching the guys on the bench and saw Wally around the 1:40 mark and he definitely never made it out after that no clue what was going on in his mind there

He hasn’t played hockey in over the year, mistakes should be expected. He looks pretty dynamic to me. Definitely not a trotz player but I like him.

Wahlstrom has 6 goals in his last 14 games playing 4th line minutes.
How do you not have him out there when you need a goal...

Not so fast he put him out there for the faceoff with 2.3 seconds, lol. Was watching the game with a friend, and i said you need a goal and you don't put your best goal scorer on the ice, makes zero sense. Does he have to earn that ice time too?

Yikes. That is BS. I feel like trotz trusts wahlstrom tho. Gives him DZ draws , hasn’t been sheltering him as of late. How do you bench the guy that scored the game tying goal lol

Mayfiled is so streaky... There's like a 10 game streak where we don't notice him, which is great for a defenseman, then there's games like last night where he just destroys them.

I'm curious what Lou's plan is for the coming seasons. Will they still have faith in Mayfield? Does hit cap hit make games like last night OK? Maybe next season he'll have bottom line minutes so they can stomach him better. Long term he's clearly out with wilde/hutton in the mix.

This season I feel like he makes bonehead plays every other game. He doesn’t skate well and he’s slow to read and react to plays. Not a great combination.

I feel like they will because of his cap hit. I’ve always felt that mayfields contract is fair at best, he’s a #6 D - but I bet Lou/trotz will give him a longer leash because he’s 6’5 and approaching 30.

Isles called up grant Hutton , I bet he’ll play on Saturday. He’s a more skilled version of mayfield

Probably at the expense of Aho. I can't imagine that in Trotz's mind Mayfield has been bad enough for a benching, especially when Bailey, Greene and Mayfield himself to this point have had free rein

Trotz loves to give a long leash to borderline useless players. It’s fair to assume at this point dobson has covid. Let’s hope he’s back sooner than later, he makes so many simple plays that go unnoticed.
