Palmieri plays playoff hockey when Hall does not. We don't need any more soft skill and Friedman even mentioned that the Leafs are not looking for more soft skill players. I'm also mentioning the players Friedman mentioned. He even said that he doesn't believe the Leafs are in on Hall

I know it's an all-in season, and maybe a bidding war develops that ups the price and the leafs are willing to pay the most, but this just seems insane for a rental. It's more than what the leafs paid for two seasons of Muzzin. But again, might just be the market. Are the Islanders topping this? Will he have all Canadian teams on his no trade as has been reported with other American players? Interesting stuff. Also, I think NJ should definitely take this. He's been in new Jersey for a long time and they have cap space now and in the future. I'm sure they can beat any free agency price in the summer.

You have to pay to get players unfortunately. If we are acquiring a player like Palmieri who can really round out our top 6, I'm not losing sleep over this package. Timothy Liljegren has been in this system long enough and is really concerning that he isn't in the NHL

Yeah I disagree on your assessment on Liljegren- players develop differently and on different timelines, but I can see the concern. And I have read recently that they are higher on Liljegren than previously, but if rumors are to be believed, leafs did offer him in the Muzzin trade- LA just took the other guy. And I guess it's important to remark that Lilijgren was not a Dubas pick. But I think your overall point is true, it's really looking like you will have to overpay this year. I do like the player.

We are not playing Boston, Tampa, or any of the high competitive, Stanley Cup contenders teams until the third round. How do we not go all in this season?

I suggest offering Liljgren for him at 50% retained, and maybe have a 3rd team retain some (not sure exactly if a 2.2 mil Palmeiri would fit).
