Flower-Dougie?

Created by: HCSG
Team: 2016-17 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 30, 2016

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'm just curious to see what people think of this sorta trade; from Pitt's perspective I'd actually rather have Jultz right now than Dougie; they seem to be producing about the same, and Jultz costs less (both now and, probably, in the future) as well as already being familiar with the group and the system and the organization.

I also don't exactly think the Pens should be all that excited to move Flower at the moment, and maybe not even through this season.

But: is this a way to move Flower? And maybe a sensible way for the future? Hamilton is an expensive contract to pick up for sure, but he's a great young defenseman to have behind Letang on the right side.

From the Flames perspective: I don't follow them much, but they've been a bit better lately; do they still need to reassess their netminder duo? Would the idea of trading Hamilton receive a swift and forceful rejection?

Maybe more needs to be added on one side or another of the deal; clearly I don't think it's a deal which should be made immediately, so it's contingent to some degree on where these two teams stand around the deadline, or whenever the deal might be made.

Any thoughts?

Don't' think they'd deal Dougie unless it was for a big time D prospect (Schultz just hasn't proven himself over long enough pd). They gave up too much by signing him in the first place so also don't think Treliving and Burke would want to get anything less than a TOP return.

This is the worst proposal ever. Fleury is marginally better than Elliott, and costs a lot more. Why would we move arguably our best Dman this year for this terrible package? Stop just stop.

Right an aging MAF who's been playing like garbage this year+Schultz for Dougie Hamilton+Brian Elliott any reason why Brad Treliving would make this deal and MAF isn't waiving for Calgary who's more or less not making the playoffs any ways.

There are going to "so many" goalies available pre expansion, there is no reason for Pens fans to think Fleury is going to the most desirable to be acquired by other teams. Backup goalies making 5.75m are not a hot commodity. That been said, with the Murray injury, Fleury with additional playing time can establish "his value" as a puck stopper in the next few weeks. A real time for evaluation of Fleury by the Pens and other NHL teams including Vegas.

Not only is this a very unlikely deal because the values exchanged are just not in line. Calgary is giving up way more than Pitt. This also solves nothing for Pittsburgh as they would almost certainly be giving up Maatta or Dumoulin using a protection spot on Dougie.
