Too much man. Grab Haula or Granlund and call it quits. A depth d-man would definitely be a good pickup if EJ is done for the season though.

This team will have a hard time bringing back Landeskog and Grubauer.

I would love to see the numbers on that, cause i've tried a few times and it doesn't look good at all.

Too much in assets sent out or simply too much? Can you have too much come the play offs?

Not sure on the value for EG but I think some size and nastiness on the back end isn't a bad idea. Otherwise it's a pretty small D bar Graves that can get run easily if a team decides to play it that way.

Depends on who you're signing. In a vaccum and trying to re-sign everyone of course it wouldn't. Obvious casualty is Saad wouldn't be coming back.

6'0 183, 5'10 170, 6'1 191, 5'11 187, 6'0 195 and then Graves is why. That D could easily get steamrollered if a team decides to play them that way.

I feel like the value might be close-ish, but we don't need another top-6 forward. The top two lines are clicking right now, so why mess with it? We need a 3C/4C, and Haula or Granlund are far better fits than Sissons. I also wouldn't touch his contract with a 20 ft. pole. You don't sign third-line players for that long.

As for a defenseman, Gudbranson isn't a bad option, but I'd target Savard over him. Use the assets there.

I know, I didn't sign Saad. Landeskog, Grubauer, and Makar both need raises. in a flat cap, plus, EJ isn't going to be on LTIR forever. I don't see how it's possible.

Fair argument, though I'd disagree on Sissons's contract, that's a positive to me. Easy to move later if you need to as it's team friendly and if not you've got that position covered for ages. Main reason I prefer EG is because he has a certain amount of nastiness to him in case anyone tries to take liberties. Three D 22 and under and all but Graves below 6'1 195 it would be good to have that insurance.

Like I said you're working in a vaccuum with no other moves then. Graves or Donskoi are gone in the expansion. Move the other, there's plenty of space.

You're assuming he doesn't start slowing down though. The guy's gonna be 34 years old by the time that contract is up... I get the argument for Gudbranson, but I think Savard brings a bit of it and more skill. The Avs D is the cream of the crop right now, so I'd be cautious in changing much.

Oh for sure but that's also why I said it's a moveable contract, and by then even if he's dropped to Bellemare level it will be comparable if not better.

One guy in on D isn't a great change but I do get you.....chemistry and all that and if it's Savard or EG it's all the same on the number of players. We're spoilt but I just don't want to see them getting run as that's how I'm thinking a team may try to stop them. Obviously we all hope EJ is back so it becomes moot. Just thinking about how we could use the space to up our chances.

I usually would agree with you but they are playing in the heaviest grindiest division going and they are doing well

It's just a worry I have, hopefully it's moot as EJ will be back. Certainly if we didn't do the Forsberg trade and just went for a #3C then there'd be little issue to picking up EG or another D as well as insurance whether EJ was back or not.

I'd rather a boone jenner or nick foligino... even a heavy hitting 4th liner, than haula and granlund whatever the avs trade rumours are

Certainly plenty of possible options for #3C out there. I'm surprised Joe hasn't made a move by now though tbh, but maybe he sees it differently to us fans, or else just can't find the right deal. After all that's why he's a GM and we aren't I guess!!

Joe's almost cheap, not willing to move major pieces, asking prices are too high right now..

Which is good just dont expect blockbusters

Bring Wagner back from Boston? Probably fits our style pretty well from what I remember. Just thinking outside the box.....and absolutely no desire to see Hall in an Avs sweater.

Wagner isnt really what I mean, hes gotta be good enough to make the lineup, Wagner couldnt and isnt rough enough.. I'm talking about a jenner, foligini, bennett, crouse, or watson. They have to be better than oconnor who has played great this year..

Really like what you said about hall though

A little extra size, grit and sandpaper lower down certainly wouldn't hurt for the play offs.

Just re-read and spotted a name I do kind of like the idea of adding though not much idea on what the cost would be - Crouse. Still young and would fit in well with the Avs I think.

If they have that cap space to use, I'd like to see them add rental depth pieces on D and the bottom-six to account for injuries that will likely happen. A decent G would be nice but it was pointed out to me that the Avs currently have 6 G under contract so I can't see them adding anyone else.
