Meh, how about a 3rd and a prospect for Granlund?

Thats what id expect maybe just a 2nd but avs only got 1sts n 3rds and goodrow went for a first somehow from tampa just shows teams get despite to build up for playoffs

very poor deal for NSH with TOR.

I like Kerfoot, and hes a quality 3rd liner, but just that, hes a quality 3rd liner at 3.5mil and just average or below average at 2nd line.
I like Dermott, but hes a 3rd pairing guy, who's neither a puck rusher nor crease clearer. Hes a solid 3rd pairing youngster, but has shown nothing to believe he'd be anything more than a 3rd pairing guy.
Liljegren is a nice prospect, but probably not a top 20 prospect on defense and maybe not even top 50. The leafs preferred Lehtonen and Dermott to him, and hes halfway thru his 2nd pro year without much of a cup of coffee in Toronto, (not the strongest of defenses the last couple of years) its debateable if he still is a top 100 defensive prospect at the end of 2020-21 season.
The 1st rounder will be low.

The two guys being moved are not UFA rentals, a top line winger and top 4 defenseman, nothing you're receiving back replaces those two positions.

Yeah, and honestly your trade was probably fair just don’t see Sakic giving up a 1st (something he has never done) for a 3rd line rental.

Avs mentioned above, hard time believing Sakic would move a 1st for a rental, it’s not his style

A simplistic deal is out there for the 2 teams

This is just downright awful for NSH. Arvidsson is a great top 6 guy, on a great contract and ekholm is a top pairing dman. The leafs would have to start with one of Sandin or Amirov and a 1st. You’re basically getting two guys with some term, who are high end guys. You can’t get quality without giving up quality.

Granlund is very likely not retuning a 1st unless it's a conditional 2nd that can upgrade to a 1st.

The Leafs trade gets Toronto one of Ekholm or Arvidsson, not both.

Honestly not interested in that return for either Ekholm or Arvidsson.

Goodrow was earning almost league minimum for 2 playoff runs, big difference.

A 3rd + prospect is probably the offer Sakic would make if he wanted Granlund. The rental market for forwards favours buyers this year given how many are available.
