Can't see Seattle getting mixed up in that contract unless you pay them.

You cant sign Hall to a 8 year deal unless you own his rights.
    Edit-Just saw the trade
You will be regretting that contract in a year or 2

Also, if you have money and you traded for Hall.. keep him! Don't sign another older Dman in Savard and don't resign Danault or Tatar. Trade their rights to someone that wants him for a 5th rounder or 6th rounder.
Take that money and sign Hall. He had a terrible year but he wants term. Give him term for as low as you can get. I expect sub 8M.

After this year no one is giving 8 million

Price to Seattle probably cost a 1st and 2nd. His salary, contract and age all make his still-producing talent a negative commodity, especially for an expansion club.

You can only sign Hall for 7 years, Don't see Price waiving his NMC for Seattle at his age now doubt he has any interest in an expansion team. And for Ron Francis to take him you'd need to offer him major incentives. Signing Hall long term and resigning Tatar basically blocks Cole Caufield.

Depends on Seattle's strategy... I personally think they should opt for younger (cheaper) players for most teams. This being said, if they do this, they will need to reach the cap floor. Hence, price will help with that.

Also, not everyday you have the opportunity to get grab a franchise Goalie. I think it is a good ''investment'' for them. Will bring stability at the position for years to come. leadership and experience. Just like Fleury brought to VGK.. and it worked out pretty good for them

Why would Vegas retain on a Vezina calibre goalie now when they weren't willing to do it last season when his value was at an all-time low? & all they're getting back is a 4th liner, a C+ prospect and a mid round 2nd round pick? I feel like they'd decline that in a hurry.

In my scenario, Habs get hall at the deadline and also shed Byrons salary at the same. Allows them to offer the 8th year.

As someone mention above, many teams won't be offering term this year in FA. If Montreal does, some players may opt for it.

For ex: I think danault would be a fool to turn down 8X4.

Hall wasn't able to get term last year... and hasn't helped his case to year. He will definitely consider 8x6.5

I don't think tatar necessarily stays.. actually he would have to accept 1x4.25. I put him on my team just to have the cap hits balance out lol

If you believe they go with younger players, why would they acquire a rather ancient goalie? A franchise goalie is one that is with an organization for some time and can keep the team competitive while they build and thats not Price. Price will not play for years to come, he'll be 34 before next year and just cant see him at 37.38 years old playing for, in all likelihood, a pretty meh team.
Theres way better options to get to the cap floor, think of all the flat capped teams who will struggle with re-signings AND free agency. Seattle will easily for a price take on other teams cap dumps and overpay UFAs to get to the cap floor.
Fluery was much younger and cheaper than Price, but ultimately its the price of price, Seattle may select him, but it would take alot from MTL. (as I said earlier probably a 1st and 2nd and even then its probably not in Seattle's interest)

Not sure why vegas would do that. One year of fleury at 3.5 is worth more than that
