No they don’t. No top prospect is coming back to Anaheim and we’re losing both Rakell and Manson.

Is that Detroit trade part of a bet to see if the leafs can still compete after adding two of the worst players from the leagues worst team? A 7th would be an overpayment for that return.

I look at this trade as Anaheim dumping salary and getting a pool of prospects / picks.

Manson at this point is a cap dump who is going to regress.

Trading Manson would open up a roster spot for someone like Jamie Drysdale.

Rakell for a 1st, two seconds and Hirvonen plus whatever else is here is something that should be considered by the Ducks IMO.

Then youre looking at it wrong. Neither Manson or Rakell are "dumps" thats a horrible take, Manson is still a serviceable 2nd pair guy and Rakell is a steal at his AAV

They dont need to move Manson to open a spot for Drysdale they just dont play Hakanpaa if they want to play Drysdale.

1 mediocre at best prospect, 2 non-factor prospects, a late first and some late seconds do literally nothing for the Ducks who need quality over quantity

They are dumping salary because ownership needs to save money during this tough economic climate we're in.

Of course, there are better ways to dump salary but Manson just came back from injury and probably won't be playing at a 100%.

His underlying numbers don't look very encouraging for someone making over 4 million per IMO.
