Boston declines for like the 200th time. Not trading Debrusk for Virtanen anymore than you are trading Boesser or Elias for Debrusk. They aren’t dumb.

TB Flatly declines and both Cernak and Sergachev are protected so don't give me the you'll loose either of them. TB is weakest at RD so they trade their best for a swap in picks and a LD where TB has an abundance? Outright dumb trade for TB!!!

Why does TB trade Cernak?? They protect 4/4/1. Seattle wants Johnson. Take him. They only lose one guy...

Cernack not going anywhere. Cost controlled for two more years. Top four defense right shot.

Good, then we just drop JV18's caphit completely to seattle. Odd comparison though Brock and Elias are tiers above DeBrusk while DeBrusk is like a tier above Virtanen.

My Canadian bias is showing, who are TBLs protected list then? With all their forwards I would have thought 7/3/1. No way Seattle takes on that Johnson contract

Odd you’d think that considering goals per 82 games. The gap between Virt and Debrusk is 10g per 82. While it’s 8 between Debrusk and Boesser/Elias. 🤷🏻‍♂️

You are talking about dumping Virt to Seattle while Boston will protect Debrusk. That’s how wide the gap is.

Firstly, I have seen numerous mock protection lists that leave DeBrusk off. Secondly, thats an oddly specific and narrow stat to look at. You talking about over their careers? Because nobody cares about what happened last year or the year before, we are talking about players at their current value...

Tampa easily declines this trade. Most likely, Tampa will have a deal in place to have Seattle take Johnson with the addition of a pick and/or prospect. Tampa almost assuredly protects Stamkos, Kucherov, Point, Cirelli, Hedman, Sergachev, Cernak, Foote and Vasilevskiy. Tampa may try to negotiate a deal to have Seattle take McDonagh instead depending on what Tampa's plans are. The only way Tampa exposes Foote is if a deal is already in place for Seattle to take Johnson or another asset, which amounts to the same end result whether Tampa goes 7-3-1 or 4-4-1. No chance at all that Tampa is leaving Cernak available or trading him for a pittance, when he is easily their best RHD.

So with this, why wouldn't SEA take someone like Gourde instead?

Because Tampa is going to negotiate a deal to have Seattle either take Johnson with sweetener, McD with sweetener, or a lesser asset with sweetener. This is nothing surprising, as 11 teams did the same thing with Vegas, and the same will hold true with Seattle as they stockpile draft picks and prospects in these types of deals.

Which shows you how dumb fans are. Debrusk would be the 5th forward protected. There is zero chance he isn’t. So whoever is doing those mocks are not to bright.

Yes career 82g avg.

Sorry but fans are enamored with small sample sizes and what have you done for me lately. GMs are not. They are concerned with what will you do for me now and In the future.

During Debrusks “struggles” over the last 2 years he has 22g and 40 points in 86 games.

He is a a proven commodity.

Yet Nucks and Oilers fans consistently and relentlessly offer a pile of 💩 for him. You must have an abundance of really good weed up there. Lol.

Boston will use him to upgrade their roster. An LD1 or an upgrade from him at wing. If not they will hold him and protect him. Simple as that.

*checks notes

Jake Virtanen also has 22 goals and 40 pts over the last 2 years. We can put a pin in this thread and see what 1st pairing LHD Jake DeBrusk gets traded for.

That’s also his best output. It’s Debrusk’s worst. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Only 1 in play right now. Ekholm. Talks of Debrusk/Urho.

The other problem is if they add an LD1 it creates an issue with their protection list on D. Leaving Grizz exposed. Something I have no issue with but many do.
