So you're not trading Eichel then?

This is why Buffalo is going to be stuck being crappy for a while. Eichel's going nowhere with your asking prices.

In general, this is why franchise players are so rarely traded.

I mean you said it. This is why franchise players dont get traded. Because their actual value is more than anyone wants to pay. not sure why the sabres should take less than value with Eichel.

you are right.
but you are also insane for thinking Eichel deserves this return.

I mean he was playing at a top 10 player in the league level in the 19-20 season on a team with almost no help. He's a top 10 center in the league. A franchise player you build around. If you want a guy like that it's going to cost you real assets. Not your 7th best prospect, a 1st and a cap dump like everyone else proposes.

Well, then, if that's what it would cost, then LA won't be getting Eichel, because we won't be trading any two of Byfield, Turcotte and Vilardi.

So I guess the Sabres will be consigned to being one of the five worst teams in the NHL for quite some time. Because what you would actually get from an Eichel trade would start you on the road to recovery much, much sooner than four pure futures.

The problem with your logic is ownership has justifiable reasons to trade him if they wish, your franchise player: put up only two goals this season, has shown dissatisfaction with the team as a whole, is injured and likely out for the season, and his window to be traded is closing. I agree you shouldn't sell when a players value is low, but you have to be ok with the risk of him demanding a trade later to a team of his choosing for a much lower return.

"Everyone else"? The proposals most of my fellow Kings adherents and I have made include Turcotte, a roster player like Lizotte (you're still thin at center) or Wagner, a defense prospect like Clague, and a 2021 first-round draft pick plus a 2022 second-round draft pick or the equivalent.

That’s a solid return. If I was the kings, I’d be alright with either turcotte or byfield.
