Ottawa really shouldn't be looking to add assets for bad cap at this stage. The cap space they have is a huge asset, and it's one they will need going forward. Guys like Tkachuk, Norris and Batherson will all need new deals soon, and they're better off leaving as much breathing room as possible.

Its only Neil for 2 years and you get a first and a 6th plus 2 very good prospects. Bear is already an NHL quality D at 2MM.

If we're going to be trading Hampus Lindholm, it won't be for three more LDs. Something along the lines of Bear and a first or Bouchard and a second is more likely.

It's not as great an offer as it looks when you consider that Ottawa isn't just giving up nothing. Tierney is a valuable asset who could easily bring back a 2nd maybe another asset on top of that, and Mike Reilly has been a very useful dman as well.

Edmonton is moving several assets, but the only pieces that mean anything to Ottawa would be the 1st and Bear. Benson is a great AHL player, but he's got basically no shot of making the Sens short or long term. I'm really not convinced of his upside as an NHL player at all, especially in Ottawa where they have unbelievable LW depth. Bear is good, but I think he overachieved as a rookie, and is probably more of a 3rd pair guy. Chiasson is a bum.

If Neal had one year left on his deal then I think the price would probably be a 1st to get someone to pick it up. Considering it's two years left I could be sold on Bear and Benson being added with the 1st. The question is what's being given up for Reilly and Tierney. Reilly's probably worth at least a 4th right now and Tierney probably comes in around a 2nd. Zero chance Ottawa wants Chiasson back as a rental, him and the 6th don't move the needle much.

Maybe if you listed the Neal cap dump and acquiring Tierney and Reilly separately it might make more sense.

I mean Broberg is pretty valuable, he could be great next to drydale, and then a good number of nice complimentary pieces, i think the deal should maybe just be played with a bit, maybe switch the two seconds for a first and then change one of the two lesser prospects to a forward of similar value

Is Broberg a projected top pair D? From the reports I saw I didn’t get that. Maybe Bouchard is good enough prospect. But I just don’t think EDM has a package they can put together that would beat what other teams could.

Broberg is a first and is already developing. plus 2 more D prospects and 2 seconds is lots of value.

OTT accepts.

Tierney is worth 2nd+3rd. Reilly is worth a 4th.

Dumping Neal will cost 1st+ (2 years, >9M)

Dumping Chiasson would a pittance, but still cost.

So youre trying to make up appr. 1st/2nd/3rd/4th/5th worth of equivalent value

offering 1st/6th Bear and Benson

Not really. The only value is Broberg and he’s not that highly rated.

I don't know where you get your info (probably Dobber which is a fantasy league page) but he is very highly rated. He was the captain of Sweden at WJHC. He has been dealing with a bit of an injury he sustained at the tourney but he is going to be a very good 2-3, which is what Linholm is.

i think he definitely has top pair potential, hes fast and dynamic, and has some size to him, creatice offensively, and has a decent toolkit.

That’s not what I got from Wheeler’s report. Also the ask for Ekholm is a top prospect a first and another piece. Lindholm should get at least that.

Yeah Wheeler isn’t huge on him but a lot of other scouts are, I would still qualify him as a top prospect.
