We need to avoid another big trade/big name player.
We need to use this year and next year to play the prospects and get them into the lineup, kill a few more years of the bad deals, use this time to take on a few reclamation projects (cheap ones we don’t want Skinner or another high dollar bust) if they flourish great and if they produce but are not In-N-Out long term plans... then we can then flip them for more draft capital or prospects!!! we need to draft high and smart in back to back years and focus on 2023 and beyond. I feel 2-3 of the 2019 draft picks will be NHL regulars with 1 maybe 2 cracking the top 6. we have a good amount of bottom 6 depth and bottom pairing D, we still need a stud young goalie prospect or two (I like melnichuyk and Korenar but I don’t see Them winning the cup as starters) we need another big RH and LH shot D prospects and a bunch of forwards. To fill out our depth and restructure our teams future.
Quick fixes don’t work in anything, build up our prospect depth and talent level to top 10, shed a few oversized contracts and start a re-tooling of this roster. Sadly sharks won’t ever do a full on rebuild so we have to plan this well and covert while still looking like a team that’s capable!
