Description

There are enough offensive pieces for guys to become expendable. If this team could solidify a good NHL top 4 on defense I think they can compete for playoffs. Don't waste Blackwood's prime years and get to the show as much as you can with Nico and Jack. Not trying to destroy all the work from rebuilding but at a point it is time to go for it and compete. Even though the forward group would still be very young a really good back end could help take off pressure and give them more time in the o-zone.

Why not try and sign Hamilton in FA for nothing but cash? Most teams won't be able to afford him, we're lean on the right side franchise wide. It might be as tough as Josi but maybe Hanifin for the left.

I like both of those ideas. Only thing with Hamilton is if he ends up getting a real bidding war going I am really hesitant to give a 10+M dollar deal for long term. If we could sign him to the exact Josi contract or even a tad bit higher I would do it. And if Calgary is willing to move Hamilton yeah I would be interested in that for sure.
