Massive overpay. Half of that is reasonable.

Ya. It really is. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Let’s not get carried away about who he is for starters. His 82 game averages are exactly the same as Debrusk’s. Even when Debrusk was at his height 2 years ago he would not have commanded that kind of return. Then understand the position Zona is in.

Would not be surprised if the two talk about OEL/Garland package.

Wait, are you the Boston fan who consistantly overrated his players and gets personally offended when told he's wrong? If so then no point in arguing here

But if Garland was on your team you wouldn't want 2 late firsts, a bad winger and a future 3rd pair d for him.

Nope.

And depends on the situation.

And wanting and being able to get are totally different things.

He is a late bloomer, one time 20G. A late first and a prospect is quite enough.

Tatar was a 5 times 20G when he was traded (with an overpayment) for a 1st,2nd and 3rd.

Please remember me the last time a player was traded for two 1st? Duschene, and they were conditionnals. Garland is far from his track record.

Lol sure, an average D prospect and late first are worth a play driving, two way first line winger.

Its it's not what I said, but still closer to real value than two 1st, yeah.

Also, half the league could be on Arizona's first line. It's not really an outstanding achievement. 🏆Elite player Johan Larsson is their first center now and days 🤣🤣🤣

Great argument 👌

Just throwing this out there for the context.

Last year he was on a 49 point pace playing 14 mins a night. This year on a 66 point pace playing 17 mins and 47 secs a night. I’d give two of Detroit’s second rounders which are close to Boston first and two iffy players for Garland no problem.

Totally reasonable.

Two 2nd have similar (but a bit less) value than a late first.

But it's nowhere close to the two 1st+ suggested here though.

I think some team might upbet you with a late first though, considering 2021 picks lost value because of the scouting hell cause by the pandemic.

The difference between Detroit’s second rounder and Boston’s first isn’t massive. The rumored ask for Garland
is a first + elite prospect so 2x firsts to me isn’t crazy considering the team it’s coming from.

Well the rumor of an abitious ask and a realistic value another team would pay is two different things.

My MTL offer for Garland is a 1st and Ylonen 👍

Hed be a first liner on most teams. Your argument that arizona sucks works against you. If arizona is so bad then why is Garland being belittled for not putting up star point totals?

If Arizona is bad, why is Garland not that good? 😟

Whatever, I dont follow you, but I know Garland has 82 points in career and 2 years left before free agency and that's not worth two 1st round picks.

I guess we are going to agree to disagree. I don’t think two first rounders is a crazy ask considering they’re not lottery picks and Tatar went for a 1, 2, and 3 while having a down year and show casing lesser pace totals to Garland.

Sportsnet just suggested a Garland trade to Toronto for Rodion Amirov, Nick Abruzzese, 2021 second-round pick. So basically a 1st and a 2nd.

Sportsnet just suggested a Garland trade to Toronto for Rodion Amirov, Nick Abruzzese, 2021 second-round pick. So basically a 1st and a 2nd.

Amirov is a 15OVR pick from last year playing in the second hardest hockey league in the word, Abruzzese although drafted as an overage is playing good in the NCAA, and a second round pick. Seems similar, maybe ever so slightly more than the Kapanen package which I’m sure they’re using as a base to the deal. Only issue I have with it is that Garland > Kapanen and I didn’t see this article as they usually just post their own speculations for clicks.

This was said by Friedman on 31 thoughts, “I’m hearing Arizona’s been asked about him,” Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said Saturday during the Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada. “And it’s not something I think they really want to do, but if the offer is big enough that it allows them to restock, I think they’re going to at least consider it.”

This also “ One thing Arizona has told teams: It’s not interested in multiple picks that are late in rounds. So you’ve got to bring more than that.”

So basically they want a premiere first round pick and based on the first quote they’d want that + to restock the prospect cupboard.
