Description

Looking past Eichel, Buffalos center depth is horrible. So adding Monahan could be good for them.
In return the Flames get a RW who has proven he can score, especially on the PP in Olafson. Putting another young Swede on a line with Lindholm could boost his game a bit higher.
With Miller it gives a veteran guy to play with and mentor Valimaki, maybe helping boost his game just as Tanev has done for Hanifin this year.

Doubt they would shell out a 1st a 2nd and olofsson.

the team needs to continue to build and shelling out a young player and 2 high draft picks isn't really in the cards.

If they keep Eichel they more than likely would get a stop gap 2c and wait for Mitts or Cozens to permanently take that role.

I get what you're saying regarding the picks being given, but BUF needs to do something on the ice now, and waiting another 2-5 years for whoever they use those picks on isn't the answer.
Whoever they draft with that 2022 1st will most likely be some 18yr old kid who will take maybe 2+ years to be an effective NHL'er, so that's already a min 3 year wait whereas Mony gives them a proven center right now.
Monahan gives them a perfect 2C behind Eichel and a guy who has a proven track record of 30+ goal seasons.

I've seen worst trades but the way the Sabres look that 2022 pick is likely a top 3 pick, my counter would be Reinhart, Olofsson, Miller, 2021 2nd 2022 1st for Monahan and Tkachuk
