Pens say no. Teddy is better than having Compher at his contract. Timmins isnt necessary for pens(Ceci has been solid)

What sort of return would you want for Blueger instead of this package?

It's tough to determine Teddy's value, because is worth significantly more to the Pens than his trade value. An overpay like prospect Newhook would definitely get Ron's attention. That gives the Pens the type of building block for a rebuild post Crosby and Malkin.

If he said "no" to Blueger for Newhook, he should be fired immediately. That being said, if Sakic offered Newhook for Blueger, he should be fired immediately. That's a ridiculously lopsided trade even if Newhook is still just a prospect.

Yah, that's my point. Teddy is a cheap 3rd line center that does it all. Produces without quality talent around him. Excellent penalty killer and defensive player. He would be a big addition to a contending team, but that team would have to overpay for him since Pittsburgh has no reason to trade him.

I'd have to agree. Not to mention he is out "longer term", meaning I really doubt that he is traded this season. When looking for a new contract he will be more likely to be moved but like stated above, he is a perfect 3/4C for Pit as he is able to produce decent numbers without much talent around him and does a lot of the little things that HCMS loves.

What do you think his next contract will look like?

Because he is on a cap strapped team, it will probably be a 2/3 year deal at anywhere between 2-4 million depending on who else Pittsburgh has lined up to sign. Him being out long term this season probably also hurts his contract demands. Him being restricted also lowers his ask. On the open market, he probably gets 4ish million on a 4 year deal.
