Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Change retention to work with whatever cap restraints at deadline day. But in my mind, those three players are exactly what Toronto needs.

For this to happen CBJ and NSH need to string a few losses together.

Holl/Kerfoot is going to Seattle. Resign Hyman, Savard, and Rittich (for less or let walk) and lose Anderson.

Trade one of Holl/Kerfoot in offseason. Look at resigning Granlund and also have healthy pressure in Robertson, Sandin and Liljegren looking for a spot.

Take or leave Bogosian depending on cost.

Everyone wants to trade kerfoot and while I get it in that he's the only non big 4, top 3d, starting goalie making over 2.25 mil, our c depth becomes atrocious without him.

Engvall is potentially showing he can be a 3c, and that will be awesome, but would you want him as a top 2 c if Matthews or Tavares were injured?

3.5 million for a guy to play 3c or 2 lw depending on the night and put up half a point per game is actually totally finr

Personally, I would like to keep him. I really would.

But if cap space is needed for this team to be better, then it’s what needs to happen.

I also think, Nylander/Hyman could fill a top 6 C role for a while if need be.

Yep, cap space is the only reason to expose him in the expansion draft. He is currently providing things to this team that others lower on depth chart can't provide.

Sadly, that will be a luxury the Leafs won't be able to afford next season.

Hyman is not a c. I don't think he's played 3 games in the NHL as one. I think he played some college time.

Teams are built to win down the middle. I would not trade or move kerfoot unless we were getting a better or as good option down the middle, which seems hard but not impossible to do at that price.

From your description

Trade one of Holl/Kerfoot in offseason. Look at resigning Granlund and also have healthy pressure in Robertson, Sandin and Liljegren looking for a spot.

But next year. I agree I like having him and do NOT want to see him go this year but next year they cannot afford him. Or at the very least, the following year he is gone. Clearly I am not the GM and if I was serious I would be looking at each and every option to fill a 3C role before trading Kerfoot. The point of my post is Rittich, Granlund and/or Savard. For me It's Rittich and Savard are the keys and then see what you can do on forward but if not, oh well.

I'd be interested in rittich next year as I think his cost won't be egregious and we need to save $$. I don't think he's particularly special.

Savard is solid enough but certainly nothing special.
