If he’s really that great please explain why he is always the odd man out. It’s not like he has an expiring contract. Let’s be realistic here, he had one or two nice seasons to start off and then you gave him a big long-term contract and he hasn’t been worth it. Can he be redeemed? Possibly, he’s still young. But with that contract he’s not going to be that easy to move unless his play starts earning it.

As far as my fandom goes I may not know as much as I used to about every other teams’ players. That’s what happens when you grow up and get a job, some knowledge inevitably has to go. That said I know a fair amount about each team and its current players and some of its prospects. That comes with 25 odd years of active hockey fandom. Instead of a dick measuring contest how about you just admit you spoke out of turn?

POJ is going to be a regular within a year or 2. Matheson isn't getting moved because of his contract. Just because someone is "the odd man out" doesnt mean he isn't good. Even if you’re right and he actually is a very good player, Calgary is probably not looking for a third pairing defender that costs $4 million a year. They also value Mangiapane quite a bit and I don’t think they’re prepared to move him. Calgary also has young cheap defenders that they probably would rather have the ice time. Look for a team that has a lot of short term defensive contracts and aging players that will be gone. That’s a team that might be willing to take a chance on him. Not saying you’ll get the return you want, but if you’re looking to unload that contract look for a team that might actually want it.
