Ducks get the better prospect and Lightning get the waiver exempt prospect. Win goes to Ducks

For Tampa to get a waiver-exempt prospect and a penny-stock back for an on-the-cusp guy that would have been claimed on waivers for nothing if they placed him there. Good trade for both teams.

Fair trade Volkov is an good bottom 6 player with a bit of potential while Morand isn’t an NHLer yet but has a higher ceiling

Also Volkov likely would’ve been claimed on waivers as he was about to be sent done.

A prospect with bottom 6 potential for a prospect who might be a fringe NHLer his whole career and a 7th. Ducks win this one.

That's Stanley Cup Champion Alexander Volkov to you.

Neither player has any more time to grow, really. Still, at least Volkov has shown he can do something at the NHL level. ANA basically got him for a 7th, so they get the win; take chances like these when you get them!

Just a reminder this is Volkov the forward, not to be confused with Voltron: Legendary Defender

Morand looked like he was going to be a good middle 6 type guy originally, but hasn't developed very much IMO. Might end up as a bottom 6 guy eventually, but Ducks get the better player today in Volkov. Will be interesting to see how Eakins utilizes him, especially with Comtois being in the doghouse lately.

Good deal for both squads as Ducks get the better player, but Lightning don’t lose Volkov for free as he was likely to be placed on waivers.

Win goes to TBL. Mr Brisebois saw what Mr Volkov could bring to TBL and was still willing to trade him for a prospect and a conditional draft pick.
