Would Seabrook fit in Toronto?

Description
Chatter about Chicago moving Seabrook's contract at some point to alleviate cap crunch.

Seems counterintuitive to Toronto's movement, but i'm curious in sparking debate. Given his resume, he seems like he would be a good fit for a Toronto team who could use a guy like him.

It would be great to add Seabrook, but the Leafs would have to give up a lot more than that for him, so idk if I'd do it. Gardiner or Zaitsev, a prospect + a 1st and a 2nd would probably be the asking price

Possibly still low value but the issue with Seabrook is that he has 7 more years on his deal with a pretty big caphit. Matthews, Marner and Nylander(last year of ELC) will want bigtime raises and the Leafs will have to find the cap.
I like Seabrook and I think he would bring stability to the Leafs D but Chicago would probably want Nylander back and I don't think the Leafs could do that now.

The Hammond deal is interesting and I could see the Leafs making another move for a backup.

Hammond was placed on waivers before with no takers. Looks like the Leafs are going with Bibeau as the backup for the foreseeable future, and see if he is NHL good (I think he is). Love to get Muzzin with is three years till UFA as exposed to JVRs one year. Zaitsev looks like the best RHD on the Leafs,. Being 25 years of age, he's close to being a UFA, similar to Panarin. My thoughts he gets 6 years at 4.6m.
There is no way that Leafs give up a good player now like Gardiner or a potential sniper like Nylander for Seabrook. Can't see any team giving up "similar player value" by any team for a 31 year old Seabrook, although he doesn't appear to slowing down. Watty is correct is his trade....the Hawks would be looking for cheaper NHL ready player at ELCs or modest RFAs to help their cap hit, and Leafs and maybe other teams could offer more players which might be unknown to the Hawks fans. IMO I don't think the Leafs make the trade. They do have cap room and maybe a UFA or trade with a younger RHD with a more modest contract is what they would want.
Sure is tempting though, not giving up any core players for a perennial all star though. Keep on hearing about the Rangers/Bruins wanting Shattenkirk. Certainly the Bruins have young players in junior and on ELCs that might be desirable to the Hawks for Seabrook for about Shattenkirk money.

I think teams aren't taking Hammond because they just don't have room for his $1.35m salary. Summer time I think a team takes a shot. The guy would be fine playing 20-25 games. And really, I don't see Lindberg in your long term plans. In total agreement that this is partly a salary dump for Chicago, but one where they get decent assets in return.

Hi Watty: I kinda think Lindholm is a replacement for Komarov, but certainly he is tradable material. I was thinking in the Leafs were to trade for Seabrook, Soshkikov, Lindberg, (the improved Rychel)Carrick and Valiev would be guys the Hawks, Ottawa or any teams would be interested in.

You would know better than me on this one. Certainly the foundation is there, might just need change one or two parts.

I like the concept of Seabrook... don't like the reality of Seabrook and his contract though. We will be paying him for winning three cups with Chicago.

Not a contract I want without salary retention from CHI. The cost would reflect the size of retention.

I love the idea of Seabrook and have thought about it myself, and I'd definitely do it for that price. I don't know what the long term means for the cap but if Seabrook keeps up his pretty darn good play for at least a few years the option for a trade would still be available. As with Muzzin, I like him a lot and his cap is a lot better but I just wonder if the Leafs need another LHD with Nielsen playing as well as he is, Dermott playing soundly and Valiev doing a great defensive job with the Marlies. Could be feesible, but I see the Leafs trying to keep with the young on the left side.
As for the Lindberg trade, I don't think the Leafs will move him. They made the Phaneuf trade mainly targeting Lindberg as the prospect they were taking back and then liked what they saw from him last season. I'm not sure how long it will take him to develop, but I think they'll wait a little longer. And I don't think it'll cost that much to really get Hammond, given he has a million dollar plus cap and is playing in the minors right now.
Overall I did like the ideas and the value for most of the trades aside from the last, and Hammond might do well in Toronto so maybe that trade is still possible with a different asset heading back
