Vancouver probably can't take on both of those contracts because they are going to have to spend a ton this summer to re sign their RFAs.

Interesting idea about taking on their overpaid vets to get an assets though.

I made a VAN one (didnt post it), but if they sign Petey for 7x8.5, Hughes for 3x5.5 and Demko for 2x4.5, and a few other small moves, they could make it work. If anything, I would do Zucker for Beagle, Lockwood, 2nd and 4th. I would then protect Pettersson for expansion draft but trade him at entry draft for like a 2nd and another small asset.

VGK takes Tanev over ZAR I would think. ZAR has like 10 points, 8 goals, but 4 of them are garbage goals.
Hell maybe even 5 if you include the last one where Gaudreau did all the work and tapped it into an empty net. I swear the guy is an empty net vulture. He's got like 3-4 of them this year.
You take away those blind wild shots from the wall that magically went in and he's got like 3 legit goals all season.

I think Seattle takes him for his defensive abilities over his numbers. I do think Tanev is better, but that cap hit + term might turn them off. DeSmith is also someone to watch out for, depending on which goalies they take elsewhere.

he is a good defensive player, but I can't see them walking away with just that when they got better choices. Tanev contract is not bad for what you get.
Between the two of them even given the contract I'd take Tanev. Which I really hope doesn't happen. I think they have to cut a deal with seattle. But that's my opinion.
