Great value especially for 50%. Surprised Carolina couldn’t throw something together.

some MTL fans aren't really happy they did this u should see their twitter. Most going why we get this slow old guy when we had 4 good centers.

If he was that cheap, I don't understand why we couldn't get him.

Happy that MTL prefered Staal to a 4th line center that has 0 offense like Glendening

Sounds pretty fair. You can never have too much depth down the middle in the playoffs. But, he's depth at this point.

That’s awesome. He’ll be a great 4C, and he can easily play 3C if Kotkaniemi is out with COVID.

Seems like a pretty fair trade to me.

One thing I find interesting is literally the day after Kevyn Adams coached the Sabres, he traded someone away.

Yep, no idea why would you want a 4th line center on an expiring deal who leads the league in face-off wins and who can also kill penalties

Montreal fleeced the Sabres, but i guess they took the best offer since he wasn't coming back but real winner is Eric Staal for getting out of the H*llhole that,s Buffalo

I think MB is all in this season. Giving up a 3rd and 5th isn't that big of a risk and the upside is there, at least in theory. If Staal produces at a .5 ppg pace, this is a win for MTL. And I don't think that's a big stretch.

Excellent trade . We needed someone with experience considering we have kk and Suzuki for top 6. Now, we only need an upgrade at LHD.

This Should Be a fair Deal, The only difference is that it the Sabers, the Picks will turn out to be a AHLer and an ECHLer unless traded

Habs probably hoping for Minnesota Staal instead of New York state Staal. Decent depth piece.

Ther must be something more going on with with Montreal FWs to justify this.

I don’t know what FW means, but Montréal traded for Staal so they could have a better 4C. It’s not complicated.

The big winner in this trade is Eric Staal because now he has a chance of winning a game again and making the playoffs

When healthy Montréal probably has 3 2nd lines and a 3rd line this year.
