Eichel trade that works

Created by: OutCold13
Team: 2021-22 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 26, 2021
Published: Mar. 26, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This in my opinion is the only Eichel trade that works for the Wild. Even then it is tough to make the cap work, making it very unlikely. I realize I have given Cole and Hartman low-ball contracts. Hartman I've heard loves it in Minnesota so maybe he gives Wild a sweetheart deal but Wild will have to let Hartman hit FA because he would have arbitration rights otherwise. Cole I'm hoping just likes Minnesota and takes a low number.

Rossi's a nice prospect and all but that doesnt get you Eichel. Buffalo could have taken Rossi if they were that high on him

Doesn't mean they didn't want Rossi just preferred Quinn.

You like the offer, I can tell. It's in line with the 4 first or equivalent rumored ask.

If he changed the 2nd to another 1st would it be good?

    3 1sts
Rossi who was just drafted in the first
Greenway who is a great middle six guy
Rask is over priced but has been decent this year.

I think that’s a pretty good package and probably the best that would get offered to be honest

Jack hasn’t asked for a trade. He’s not asking for a trade until he has a NMC.

Ive seen this "they could have drafted Rossi if they wanted him" argument so many times and it is such a bad argument. That's like saying New Jersey could have drafted Pettersson instead of Hischier. They liked Hischier more at the draft. Doesn't mean they wouldn't have loved to have both.

That could be a concern going to another bad team or another team that’s rebuilding.

This is well done and interesting but just falls off at the Eichel deal there's gotta be more quality & certainty heading back Buffalo's way especially atm

Rossi has only played a single D+1 game so far

Relatively little evidence to conclude his ability

Fair opinion I guess, however if Sabres trade Eichel they will likely suck next year and Shane Wright is at the end of that tanking rainbow.

I’m curious who do you see offering more. It’s not the Rangers. If it’s not LA than what other team could even pull off such a trade.

Me neither. The market isn’t there in terms of viable trade partners and those willing to spend what Buffalo see’s as fair value for him.

No thx. I think it would be two best prospects and two 1st or two best prospects, a solid player from the squad and one 1st. I would prefer the second option due to the fact that we are not very good at the draft.

Maybe a team like CGY would be a good fit. They aren’t achieving what we all expected so Gaudreau and Monahan and B prospect might fit the bill of getting roster players and a prospect instead of picks

Any team in the NHL would be an upgrade over being on the Sabres. Even Detroit or Ottawa because both have reasons to be optimistic for the future. Buffalo has been rebuilding for a decade and isn't any closer to doing anything than they were 10 years ago.

He doesn’t want to wait anymore. Buffalo wouldn’t trade him to an inner division teams anyway.

None of these sabres fans would never be happy unless they get McDavid and a 1st. It’s a joke to see the comments.

It hasn't been easy for them. Have pitty. I mean if they trade Eichel, or if they don't, doesn't matter the Sabres will continue to suck and the way I see it they want a number of picks in 2022 to make sure they get the best shot possible for Shane Wright. My understanding is he is the best prospect since McDavid so it's really the best they can hope for.
They have their hearts set on Kakko, lafreniere and 2 firsts. Or Byfield plus 2 more of the kings top prospects and a 1st. I don't see either team giving that up.

Nope neither of those teams will give it up. Their truly best bet is a trade with the wild. Wild have solid goaltending, great d and a sweet top9 wing core with skill, grit and a selke finalist 2C in jee. their missing piece is a top line C. That would turn the wild into contenders for the foreseeable future. Probably the team eichel looks at for the best possibility.

Totally agree but like I discovered putting this together the Money is tough to make work. So hopefully Guerin has better answers than I do.
