That 13 minute TOI is misleading. He's only played like 4 games this season, the first of which he only played in because the Avs had cap problems which forced him to play despite not being ready, so he had his minutes heavily managed. In the 4th game he got injured early on. The other 2 games he had his usual minutes, and was certainly better than "passable".

That said, you're right that he'd be a capdump, as his injury history and $6m caphit aren't great.

It really is. Anytime somebody is underperforming ACGM’s call players cap dumps. Cap dumps are guys like Ericksson in VAN that are healthy and not playing. You want to call him a liability because he can’t stay healthy you have no argument. He has literally averaged 21+ minutes a game his entire career outside of his rookie year and this year when he played hurt. He is at worst (when healthy) a 3rd pairing guy that can kill penalties and log 18+ minutes, that’s not a cap dump.

Thats your definition of a cap dump, not everyones. Marc Staal was considered a cap dump yet played every game, Lucic is considered a cap dump but also plays every game.

Staal and Lucic both suck and Lucic contract is ridiculous and has been considered ridiculous for years. If Johnson is healthy he’s more than capable of being a significant contributor. Regardless imo it’s all moot because I think he waives his NMC for the XD.
